An almost perfect start in Dubai for Herberth Motorsport

Trembling, fighting and hoping until the end: At the 24-hour race in Dubai, Herberth Motorsport fought a gripping duel for overall victory. After completing 621 laps, the team around Robert and Alfred Renauer only had to admit defeat by a hair's breadth. The twin brothers and their teammates Ralf Bohn and Daniel Allemann were just 21 seconds behind the victorious competition. The team still had reason to be happy: In addition to second place overall, there was a double victory in the class.

"I don't even know how many times the lead changed. In any case, it was very common,” says Robert Renauer, looking back on the 24-hour race. “Even at halftime it became apparent that the WRT team would be our strongest opponent in the fight for victory. We owe the fact that we were so competitive at all to the entire crew. Our stops worked perfectly and we covered the distance without any technical problems. This is anything but a matter of course!”

The duel with the competition from BMW determined what happened for hours. Only when the checkered flag fell did it become clear that the Herberth Motorsport team had to admit defeat. Nonetheless, second place overall marks one of the strongest results the racing team achieved in the 24-hour race in the desert. Not least because Ralf Bohn, Daniel Allemann as well as Robert and Alfred Renauer secured victory in the GT3 Pro/Am class in their Porsche 911 GT3 R #91.

The success is also a compensation for the disappointing race last year. "In 2022 we also started with high expectations," remembers Daniel Allemann. “An accident early in the event meant the weekend was over early for us. So it feels all the nicer to be on the podium after such an intense race,” said the Swiss. Allemann also had the honor of riding a camel to the awards ceremony, a tradition at the Dubai 24 Hours.

The success was rounded off by a strong performance by Jason Hart, Elliot Skeer, Adam Adelson and Seth Lucas. The quartet drove sister car #92 in Dubai and impressed with an equally strong pace and a low error rate. The result was sixth overall and second in class.

Herberth Motorsport will continue in just one week. In neighboring Abu Dhabi, the team takes part in the 6-hour race of the 24H Series.
