Huber Racing finishes Porsche Carrera Cup season on podium

Alexander Tauscher finished on the podium for Huber Racing in the final round of the Porsche Carrera Cup season - Georgi Donchev narrowly misses out on winning the ProAm class title.

The Hockenheimring was the venue for the final round of the 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland season. As usual, Huber Racing fielded five Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars driven by Alexander Tauscher, Ariel Levi, Sebastian Freymuth, Jonas Greif and Georgi Donchev.

Alexander Tauscher already proved convincing on Friday when he secured second grid position for both races in qualifying, even though he was penalised for Saturday's race after committing an offence. At the start of Saturday's race, the Lower Bavarian, who also suffered from health problems throughout the weekend, suffered a moment of shock. He mounted the rear of an opponent and severely damaged his vehicle. After Tauscher was initially able to keep up with the speed of the front runners, he dropped back to 14th position in the course of the race. The best Huber Racing driver was Ariel Levi, who finished the race in eighth position. Sebastian Freymuth also finished the race in 13th place in the points.

On Sunday, Tauscher claimed his first podium result in the Carrera Cup Deutschland in the final race of the season. In the Huber Racing racer, he finished the race in 3rd position after exciting battles and duels. Georgi Donchev and Ariel Levi also finished the season in the points.

For the Bulgarian Donchev, the weekend was all about the title fight in the ProAm class. On Saturday, he reduced the gap to the top of the standings, despite several spins and collisions in the race. On Sunday, he followed this up with a second place in the category, but ultimately ended the racing year in third position, four points behind.

Luca Rettenbacher, who is currently in charge of the team with Gerhard Freundorfer: "We are very pleased that Alex Tauscher was able to end the season with a podium result. He showed strong performances throughout the season, but had bad luck and setbacks again and again. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for Georgi to win the title in the ProAm class, but he still proved his fighting spirit this weekend. For us, a difficult and demanding season in the Carrera Cup Deutschland is now coming to an end. In the coming weeks and months we'll be working hard to make sure we can fight back stronger next year. At the end of the year, I would like to say a big thank you to the team, which has worked extremely hard throughout the season."

The 2024 season of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will kick off in Imola, Italy, in April.
