Huber Racing with successes at the Sachsenring and Zolder

Huber Racing competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup at the Sachsenring and the Carrera Cup Benelux in Zolder last weekend - the team celebrated successes at both tracks.

Another eventful race weekend lies behind Huber Racing. The racing team from Hofkirchen in Bavaria once again fielded five Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland at the Sachsenring. Alexander Tauscher, Ariel Levi, Sebastian Freymuth, Jonas Greif and Georgi Donchev drove the cars on the mountain-and-valley track near Chemnitz, which is world-famous for its annual MotoGP races.

On Saturday, Tauscher was involved in a battle for fourth position over the entire race distance. In the end, after a time penalty against a competitor, he finished sixth in the first race, but missed fourth position by only about half a second, which underlines how fiercely competitive the Carrera Cup Deutschland is. Ariel Levi also fought in the front midfield in the half-hour race. With a true photo finish, he drove to ninth position on the traditional circuit. Freymuth also secured points.

Georgi Donchev climbed the podium in third place in the ProAm class. Things were to go even better for the Bulgarian on Sunday: In the second race, Donchev celebrated his first class win since the first race of the season in Spa-Francorchamps. As both his rivals in the title fight for the sub classification were eliminated in a chaotic start phase, he moved up to second position in the ProAm class and is only three points behind the leader of the standings before the last two events at the Red Bull Ring and Hockenheim.

The best-placed Huber driver was again Alexander Tauscher in eleventh position and Freymuth also scored points again in 14th place. Jonas Greif and Ariel Levi were eliminated.

Luca Rettenbacher, who is currently team leader together with Gerhard Freundorfer, was pleased after the race weekend: "For Georgi, the class win in the second race was enormously important. Since his two rivals for the title were eliminated in various collisions at the start, he was able to take an important step in the championship. The ProAm class title was his big goal before the start of the season and we are giving everything to ensure that he can secure the championship in the remaining four races."

The Carrera Cup Benelux was held in Zolder at the same time as the Carrera Cup Deutschland. With Ariel Levi and Horst Felix Felbermayr competing at the Sachsenring, Huber Racing fielded only one Porsche, driven by 17-year-old youngster Flynt Schuring. Schuring recently celebrated his debut in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at Zandvoort, where he also impressed.

In the two races during the European Truck Championship event Schuring showed a strong performance. In the first race he moved up from eighth on the grid to sixth place. Things were to go even better for the talented young driver on Sunday afternoon. From seventh on the grid, he advanced to third place with skilful overtaking manoeuvres, so that the Huber team was able to enjoy a podium finish in front of many spectators at the former Formula 1 circuit. After a third place at the season opener in Spa-Francorchamps and position two in Zandvoort, it is the third podium result in the 2023 season for Schuring.

"We are very happy about Flynt's third position in the second round. Over the whole race weekend here in Zolder he showed a strong performance and proved his talent emphatically! We are now giving everything to ensure that he can finish the season in the best possible way at the Red Bull Ring in a fortnight' time," said Franziska Lambacher, Team Manager of Huber Racing's Carrera Cup Benelux line-up.

In two weeks, both the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland and the Carrera Cup Benelux will start at the Red Bull Ring in Styria as part of the DTM event. While the penultimate race weekend will take place for the German one-make cup, the racing series from the Benelux countries will conclude its season there.
