'New' M3G Motorsport becomes three-car team with two hot title contenders

Emil Persson, Gustav Bergström and – Hampus Ericsson! There you have the driver trio who will represent the "new" M3G Motorsport (2022 drove the team for Kristoffersson Motorsport) in Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia this season.

The lineup is strong and creates expectations. In Emil Persson and Hampus Ericsson, M3G Motorsport has two hot title candidates. And in Gustav Bergström a fresh talent on the way up. "We don't participate in competitions just to participate," says team manager Ronnie Bergström, who has several Carrera Cup titles as an engineer on his record.
Then he adds: "We want results and the best result is always if you can come number one of course. But a lot of people want that and we're humbled by the season.

The team participated in the Porsche Carrera Cup last year, then with Emil Persson and Gustav Bergström in each Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992).
Persson lived up to high expectations and finished third after taking his first two race victories in the championship. The bronze spot was a nice revenge for the 33-year-old from Karlskoga. In 2021, which was his first full season in the Porsche Carrera Cup, he missed the podium by a single-point margin.

Hampus Ericsson also has a medal place in Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. He drove it to him in 2021 when he was also booked for three race victories. The 21-year-old from Kumla made his debut in the championship as a guest driver in 2019, drove the full season for the Mtech Competition in 2020 (fifth) and has the last two seasons, which have given a second and a fourth place as a result, represented Fragus Motorsport.

Now Hampus Ericsson is moving on in M3G Motorsport. "I've run two seasons with Fragus. It has worked well, but sometimes you need a change to develop, says Ericsson, who believes and hopes that the team change will take him to the next level. “It feels very good to work with M3G. I am also very grateful for the continued trust from Bauhaus”.

Gustav Bergström, son of the team manager, is even old with Hampus Ericsson, but in motorsport still only at the beginning of his career. The Stockholmer made his racing debut in the Porsche Sprint Challenge 2021 and last year made the step to Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia.
In 2022, Bergström also competed in the World Rallycross Championship, the main class World RX, where he impressed with several podiums and a sixth place in the championship.

On the news front, the name change with family connection was really the only thing M3G Motorsport had intended to announce this season. There were no ambitions to switch up to three cars. But then Hampus Ericsson got in touch, the chemistry between the drivers was right and that's the way it is.
M3G Motorsport has another Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992), so maybe we'll see a fourth driver in the team during the season.
"You never know what's going to happen. We'll see," Bergstrom said with a smile.
