Three wins and new championship leader - a perfect race weekend for Pereira

Dylan Pereira and his Förch Racing team cheered in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland: After his victory on Saturday, the Luxembourger also won the two Sunday races in the ADAC GT Masters program. With his hat trick on the Austrian Red Bull Ring, the 23-year-old is the new front runner in the national one-make cup. “We found an excellent set-up for all races. At the second race on Sunday, the start was the crucial situation when I was able to take the lead. The championship lead feels great, but it will be an open fight until the final, ”summarized Pereira.

In the first race on Sunday, Pereira got off to a better start than Pole debutant Laurin Heinrich (Germany / T3 / HRT Motorsport) - the Förch driver already overtook turn one in the 485 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Then Pereira pulled away and underscored his title ambitions with a sovereign victory. Second place went to Larry ten Voorde (Nebulus Racing by Huber). The Dutchman also overtook Heinrich in the early stages. “My first laps were good, but I couldn't get past Dylan. In terms of the overall standings, the result is a bit disappointing, but we will analyze it carefully as a team, ”said ten Voorde. Heinrich achieved third place as the best driver in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland Talent Pool, the young talent program of the one-make cup.

In the second race on Sunday, Pereira was again wide awake at the start: From position three he overtook ten Voorde and pole-setter Heinrich in the first few meters. Even at the restart after a safety car phase, Pereira remained focused and was the first to see the checkered flag after 21 laps ahead of Heinrich. “When you start from pole position, you always have hope of victory, of course. However, I knew about the experience of my pursuers. Therefore, second place is a great success, ”analyzed Heinrich. His team-mate Leon Köhler (T3 / HRT Motorsport) crossed the finish line in third place on the 4.318-kilometer route, but was disqualified after the race because the vehicle did not meet the technical regulations. Thus ten Voorde took third place on the podium.

Carlos Rivas (Luxemburg / Black Falcon Team Textar) won both Sunday races in the ProAm classification. In the first run, Stefan Rehkopf (Germany / Nebulus Racing by Huber) and Georgi Donchev (Bulgaria / Overdrive Racing by Huber) completed the class podium. Rivas in front of Matthias Jeserich (CarTech Motorsport by Nigrin) and Rehkopf was the order in the second race on Sunday. Felix Neuhofer (Overdrive Racing by Huber) experienced a special weekend in Spielberg. The Austrian drove on his home track and scored important championship points with an eleventh place in race two.

After seven of eleven races, there is tension in the championship: Pereira is leading with 154 points ahead of ten Voorde (146 points). Heinrich follows behind the duo with 90 points. “Three entertaining races with lots of passionate yet fair duels - that is exactly what defines the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. Everything is still open in the championship and I'm excited to see how the fight for the title will continue, ”said Hurui Issak, project manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany.

For the next two races of the 2020 season, the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will travel to the Lausitzring together with the ADAC GT Masters (October 30 to November 1). The circuit in Brandenburg replaces the races originally planned on the Zandvoort circuit (Netherlands) on the same date. Due to the increasing number of corona infections in the Netherlands and the classification as a risk area, the ADAC GT Masters decided at short notice to change the venue.
