Will Aspin looking forward to maintaining front running pace at Oulton Park

Will Aspin is set to tackle rounds seven and eight of the 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season, as the series heads to Cheshire’s Oulton Park this weekend (June 16-18).

With this season’s Pro-Am championship one of the most fiercely contested in recent years, every gain or loss on track can have wider repercussions, and the teenage racer knows that he needs to be on his game to achieve success week in, week out.

Last time out at Thruxton, Will was fast in practice, but lost his quickest qualifying lap time, leaving him further down the order than expected, which then had a knock-on effect for his race positions.

However, knowing he has the car and talent to run at the front of the Pro-Am field, as well as comfortably inside the overall top ten, the Florence-based racer is aiming for an error-free weekend to get his championship aspirations back on track.

Once again lining up with Team Parker Racing in his Attis Sports-liveried Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, Will has two 45-minute free practice sessions on Friday, June 16th to familiarise himself with the circuit.

This weekend, he will have an earlier qualifying period on Saturday, at 11:50, with a longer 21-lap race scheduled for that afternoon at 16:40. The second and final race will be for 20 minutes, getting underway at 13:30 on Sunday, June 18th, as it will be shown live on the main ITV1 channel.

“I think it's going to be a good weekend. We've got a lot of work to do to catch up in the championship, and this year Pro-Am is extremely hard. At Thruxton we showed we have the pace to be at the front of Pro-Am and be in the top 10 overall and I believe we can do it again and I think we can continue the performances. Unfortunately, at Thruxton we had the penalties which caused us not to have the results we could have, so this weekend I'm looking to do the same again but without any mistakes.

“I'm really looking forward to qualifying. We’ve shown what we can do as a team and I know what I can do, so there aren't any excuses. I like Oulton Park as a track – it’s good, it's fun, it's fast, and you have to be brave to be able to drive it quickly. I like those sort of circuits, especially in the 992 GT3 Cup car.”
