Allied Racing withdraws a vehicle from ADAC GT4 Germany

Allied-Racing has withdrawn one of the four planned Porsches for the ADAC GT4 Germany. The reason is that the team has only received three of the new Porsche Cayman GT4 and the previous model is no longer competitive.

Porsche is bringing the new 718 Cayman GT4 RS to the GT4 market for the 2022 season. The demand for the vehicle is huge, and Porsche received significantly more orders than the brand can process in time for the first round. Allied Racing ordered six of the new GT4 vehicles. However, the Bavarian team was informed early on that only three cars could be delivered in the first batch.

Despite this, the vehicle entered four vehicles in the ADA GT4 Germany. In addition to the three new 718 Cayman GT4 RS, an old 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR should be brought to the start. The corresponding driver line-up agreed to start with the older vehicle.

After the team had been conducting performance tests with the previous vehicle for the past few weeks, with BoP restrictions on the new vehicle, the team came to the conclusion that the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR cannot compete with the new 718 Cayman GT4 RS. The two vehicles separated by about a second. Converting the 2019 vehicle to the 2022 suspension was also unsuccessful.

The Bavarian team therefore decided to withdraw the old 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR, although the driver duo and the mechanics had already been chosen and a second racing transporter had been purchased. "Sometimes it's better not to do a deal even though it's a deal," the team said. The five 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR owned by the team will be used in the GTC Race, the Porsche Sports Cup Germany and the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse in 2022.

The team also praises Porsche for the new GT4 vehicle. "The entire development, performance and sales team surrounding the new GT4 RS have done such a good job creating a weapon that will be difficult to control and tame."
