Double program for Jaap van Lagen
Jaap van Lagen will start the next season in not one, but two official Porsche championships. The routine driver from Ede joins the top team Proton Huber in the Porsche Supercup and makes his debut in Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux with Team RaceArt. Both with the German and the Dutch team, Jaap himself combines racing with coaching his young talented teammates.
"A double program is great anyway, but also with two great teams. I'm really very happy with the opportunities that both Christoph (Huber, team owner Proton Huber, saves. ) as Roger (Grouwels, team owner Team RaceArt, red. ) I've been offered. And of course also thanks to the many loyal sponsors who were enthusiastic about the plan for 2025 without exception and supported me again this season, says Jaap van Lagen.
Super professional organization
Proton Huber is considered one of the best teams in the Porsche Supercup. The formation from Hofkirchen is also the reigning champion in the Carrera Cup Deutschland. As a racing coach, Jaap will also guide the talents of Proton Huber to successes in the Porsche Supercup.
"I've known Christoph for 15 years from my coaching work at Porsche teams. It's nice to be able to race with his team now. They are like no other, able to put down a top car within a super professional organization. My goal is to become a constant factor in the top 10. "
On the hunt of success
Jaap will also make his debut in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux. What started as a joke with team owner Roger Grouwels ended in a seat at Team RaceArt. Within the Limburg team, routine driver Sam Jongejan and Jules Grouwels will add the finer tricks of Porsche racing.
"I've known Roger for years and coach and supervised his team for years as well. On a given one, he called with the notification: "Your car is inside." After that we sat down seriously and we were actually out like this. Super cool to now hunt together for successes in the Carrera Cup Benelux. "
20 races
Racing in two championships means a lot of driving time for Jaap van Lagen. The Porsche Supercup counts 8 race weekends, the Carrera Cup Benelux six weekends with two races each. Good in total for 20 races with qualifications plus the additional training days.
"The opportunity to gain a lot of experience with new tires is very valuable. Getting the maximum out of the tires in the qualification is very important in the Porsche Supercup", explains Jaap. "With the Benelux championship we race on three circuits that we will also visit later with the Supercup. It helps a lot to be competitive. I cant wait for the season to start either. "
