Flynt Schuring claims maiden victory in Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland

The penultimate round of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland took place at the Red Bull Ring in Styria. Christoph Huber's team again entered five Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars, with the line-up led by points' leader Larry ten Voorde. His compatriot Flynt Schuring and local hero Horst Felix Felbermayr, Sebastian Freymuth and Alexander Tauscher rounded off the line-up of the team from Hofkirchen.

Alexander Tauscher set the best time in both qualifying segments. However, he could not take up the second race from the best starting position due to a penalty. His team mate Flynt Schuring took over the pole position.

Tauscher was initially able to lead the first race from pole position. After his opponent was able to overtake him after a tough fight, the racer from Mittelfels had to complete a penalty lap due to a track limit offence and thus dropped back to fourth place. One of the beneficiaries of the penalty was his team-mate Larry ten Voorde, who was able to finish the race in third place. Sebastian Freymuth and Flynt Schuring were still able to collect some points in 13th and 14th place.

In the second race, Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland rookie Flynt Schuring stormed off the line and pulled away. The 18-year-old drove a flawless race and secured a lights-to-flag victory. Schuring did not let himself be distracted by the strong pressure from his pursuer at times. This is his first overall victory in the popular one-make series. Larry ten Voorde scored further important points by finishing in fourth place. Freymuth rounded off the points-scorers in 15th place. Alexander Tauscher had a race to forget: On the first lap, the Bavarian racer was spun around and hit hard in the rear by a rival car. Tauscher continued the race and eventually finished in 16th place. Horst Felix Felbermayr failed to score in either race at his home event.

‘Congratulations to Flynt on his first victory in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany! The whole team was very happy for him about the great performance - to show such a cool performance in the debut season is something special,’ said Franziska Lambacher, who heads the Proton Huber Competition programme in the traditional racing series. ‘Alexander also did very well in qualifying and we were all very happy for him, but unfortunately he was unlucky in both races and was unable to capitalise on his great starting position. Now our full focus is on the season finale at Hockenheim, where Larry ten Voorde arrives with a lead – we will do everything we can to win the title there! We will also do our best to support Flynt in the title fight in the rookie classification.’

Ahead of the finale at Hockenheim, which takes place in three weeks, Larry ten Voorde leads the championship by 35 points. Proton Huber Competition also leads the team standings. In addition, Flynt Schuring is in third place in the rookie standings, just twelve points behind the leader.

At the same time, Proton Huber Competition also took part in the Michelin Le Mans Cup at Mugello in Italy. Jörg Dreisow and Manuel Lauck drove the team's Porsche 911 GT3 R on the picturesque circuit in Tuscany. The duo finished the race in tenth place in the GT3 class, gaining further important experience.
