Proton Competition ready for the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup
The new season of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup gets underway in Monaco on the first weekend of June – Proton Competition will field three Porsche 911 Cup.
The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is entering a new era in 2026 with the new Porsche 911 Cup. Twenty-eight cars are entered for the entire season in the world’s premier Porsche one-make series, including three from Proton Competition. A total of eight races across seven race weekends as part of the Formula 1 support programme are on the calendar.
Leading Proton Competition’s line-up in the Supercup is South African Keagan Masters, who has been champion in the Italian Carrera Cup for the past two years and has secured two titles in the Global Touring Car Championship in his home country. Masters is undertaking a double programme for the Hofkirchen-based team, as he is also competing with Proton Competition in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland.
“The goal this season in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is to fight for the championship. It is one of the most competitive championships in the world, so consistency and strong performances will be crucial. I am very motivated and looking forward to the start of the season,” said Masters. “Of course, it is an advantage to be driving for Proton Competition in both championships. Having the same team around me in both championships ensures great continuity and a deep understanding of how we need to work together. That is crucial for these championships.”
Gentleman driver Kai Pfister, who drove selected races in the Supercup and Carrera Cup Germany for the team last year, will contest the full season in the popular racing series for the first time. “I’ve naturally been following the Supercup since its inaugural year in 1993 and have always dreamed of racing there. Last year, I was already able to make a guest start in Monaco. By taking part, I’m fulfilling a childhood dream and I’d like to thank Michael Dirsch and the whole Proton Competition team for giving me this opportunity,” said Pfister ahead of the season opener.
A variety of drivers will take the wheel of Proton Competition’s third Porsche 911 Cup. In Monaco, the car will be driven by American Rodin Younessi, before experienced Brazilian Fernando Croce takes the wheel in Barcelona.
The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will take place over seven European Formula 1 race weekends. The season kicks off in early June on the street circuit of Monaco and concludes in September on the high-speed circuit at Monza. Two races will be held at the Zandvoort circuit, which will feature on the calendar for the last time in 2026. All races will be broadcast live on pay-TV on SKY Sport F1.
