Champion Sundahl ready for continuation in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia
Lukas Sundahl continues to drive in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. Just in time for the final at Mantorp Park on October 1-2, the championship's most successful driver gives the thumbs up for another season. "We have made it ready for another two seasons and I feel great joy to be able to compete with the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) this spring" says the four-time champion from Växjö.
The car change of course attracts Lukas Sundahl; “New cars are always fun. The difference between the Cup cars I have driven so far has not been so great. This will be something completely different and a kind of fresh start where everyone starts over in the same position. It feels both motivating and challenging to try a new challenge and see what you can succeed at".”
Since entering the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia 2015, Lukas Sundahl has won four titles and a second place in the championship. He has won 30 races and stood on the podium 57 times. It is without a doubt an important driver that the championship now has the privilege of retaining for at least two more seasons.
In 2022, a new era of Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia begins. With the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992), the cars will be cooler than ever, while the drivers in the tough championship will drive the new generation cup car for the first time. “Everyone starts a little at zero and I know that both Lukas and the team behind him are very motivated to try to be winners even with the next generation of racing cars.” says Raine Wermelin, director of Porsche Sweden.
A new title, Swedish Championship gold and new car are not the only pieces that motivate Lukas Sundahl to start an eighth season as a Porsche driver next year. “In addition to participating in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, the goal is to gain entry into the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup” Sundahl reveals. “I made a start in the Super Cup in Hungary in 2016 and two years later the whole Porsche Carrera Cup was Scandinavia at the Nürburgring where we competed with the drivers in the German Carrera Cup championship. It would be fun to get out and compete internationally again and see how good you are.”
