Impressive start by newcomer Annervi
Marcus Annervi is the newcomer who has succeeded best so far in Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. Ahead of the upcoming competition in Anderstorp on August 5-6, he is fourth in the championship standings, ahead of several tipped top drivers. - Exceeded expectations, but I have avoided messes and scored many points. That has been the key so far, says the 26-year-old from Halmstad.
Many wondered what Marcus Annervi, last year's champion in the Porsche Sprint Challenge, would do when he stepped up to the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia this season.
Annervi himself was one of them. !The goal I had was a place somewhere in the middle among the drivers in the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992). But really, I didn't know at all what I could or should expect”, he says.
Eventful premiere
Already in the accident-stricken premiere in Anderstorp, Annervi struck. After the opening race, he even stood on the podium. Like third. But he was not allowed to keep that position. After a deep dive into the rule book, Pontus Fredricsson escaped time-outs for a false start and got his victory back. With that, Annervi slipped down a peg hole. Double fourth places in the opener was still impressive, especially considering that for a few dramatic seconds during the final test session it looked like Annervi was going to crash away. He ended up off the track and was extremely close to rolling. “One wrong cut when I bounced out onto the grass, I might as well have flipped around”, he says and explains what happened. “I had too much rear brake down the straight and not enough warm tires so then I just bounced on the asphalt and locked the rear wheels”.
Only a trio ahead
Now it went well and at the Drivecenter Arena in Fällfors in the race after, the Race Team Gelleråsen driver was noted for another fourth place. With a placement result of 4-4-7-4 so far, Annervi is therefore fourth in the championship table with his 51 points. Only four-time champion Lukas Sundahl, Hampus Ericsson and Emil Persson have more. “We are really only there to see and learn the first year. Everything we perform is a bonus”, he says, falls silent for a moment and then adds. “But it's clear as hell that you want to deliver and fight for victories, but at the same time you don't want to put too much pressure on yourself”.
"The speed is there"
After the opening two races, Annervi and the young mechanic staff in the team have of course gathered a lot of experience. Among other things, they have learned to plan and manage the qualifier, which is divided into two rounds, Q1 and Q2. ”We have gotten better at using the tires correctly, but there is still more to learn. Both in qualifying and in the race. Standing start is partly also new, I haven't done that in a few years”. Marcus Annervi is full of confidence and has a positive attitude to the season's second visit to "Mossen" in Småland. “It's just trying to make a weekend as good as the last, if not even better”, he says. “The speed is there”.
