Successful weekend for Porsche Motorsport with victories in Shanghai, Suzuka and Nürburgring
Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific enjoyed a busy and successful weekend of motorsport, with GTC and GTS wins in the China GT opener at the Shanghai International Circuit.
China GT
China GT got underway this weekend at the Shanghai International Circuit with six Porsche entries across three classes ready for action. In the opening race, Xu Zhefeng and Cui Yue wrapped up sixth overall in the GT3 category for 610 Racing, while Bian Ye took GTC success for the Chinese team.
In GTS, Moritz Berrenberg and Finn Zulauf picked up the win for Maxmore W&S Motorsport, as Lenny Tian Weiyuan and Ricky Han Liqun crossed the line in fourth for RSR GT Racing, additionally standing on the Am class podium.
On Sunday, Zhefeng and Yue showed great pace to improve on Saturday’s effort as they clinched an overall podium after finishing third in the #610 Porsche 911 GT3 R.
610 Racing would also complete a 1-3 in the GTC category as Bian Ye led home teammate Bao Tian to top off a strong event for the squad.
Berrenberg and Zulauf ensured a perfect weekend as they took their second victory of the opening round, while the #977 RSR GT Racing secured a place on the Am-class podium. The #650 Incipient Racing of Archer Win and Min Xiao also completed the second event coming across the line in fifth. The championship returns to Shanghai on 16-18 May for the second round of the 2025 campaign.
Xu Zhefeng, 610 Racing: “Firstly, I would like to thank Porsche for their support and the squad for providing us with such a great car this weekend. We faced some challenges but battled through them as a team and managed to secure some great results.”
Cui Yue, 610 Racing: “This was my first time driving a Porsche 911 GT3 R and it was brilliant to race! I felt comfortable as the event progressed and I know I’ll continue to learn and improve throughout the campaign.”
Moritz Berrenberg, Maxmore W&S Motorsport: “It’s amazing to take victory in both GTS races to ensure a strong start to the season. I felt comfortable throughout the event which is great as we push to get more results like this in 2025.”
Finn Zulauf, Maxmore W&S Motorsport: “The atmosphere at the track this weekend was fantastic to see, and it was a great couple of days for us! We executed everything perfectly and due to this managed to pick up two excellent victories.”
Lenny Tian Weiyuan, RSR GT Racing: “Our primary goal coming into the event was to finish both races which we did, so to pick up a couple of trophies is a bonus! I would like to thank my teammate and the crew for their efforts, and we’ll continue to push harder next time.”
Ricky Han Liqun, RSR GT Racing: “There’s still a long way to go but this weekend was a success with two Am-class podiums. Lenny bought the car home safely today gaining positions and I believe that in the second round we’ll be even stronger.”
Super Taikyu Series
Porsche customer team seven x seven Racing produced another stunning performance to claim its second consecutive Super Taikyu victory in Suzuka.
After qualifying third, the quartet of Bankcy, Kiyoto Fujinami, Tsubasa Kondo and Taichi Watarai quickly moved into the lead of the enduro. They delivered an excellent controlled drive to ensure maximum points for the second event running.
Porsche Team EBI scored its first GT-Z class podium of the campaign in the #22 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. Shota Kitazono, Rintano Kubo and Ryoma Henzan started fifth as they battled their way forward and crossed the line in third.
D’station Racing finished eighth overall and managed a ST-1 category second-place after a battling drive from Kenji Hama, Tatsuya Hoshino, Tetsuya Tanaka and Taiga Kabaki during the five-hour enduro.
Nürburgring Langstrecken Series
After his podium success during NLS1, Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Selected Driver Dorian Boccolacci was in action on Saturday, taking on the second round of ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Serie (NLS) with Falken Motorsport.
The Frenchman, alongside Alessio Picariello, qualified on the front row in second for the four-hour enduro and by Lap 7 had made their way into the lead of the race. From then, the duo controlled the event and produced a dominant display to wrap up an impressive victory as the Nürburgring 24 Hours edges closer in June.
Dorian Boccolacci, Falken Motorsport: “I’m delighted to get my first victory of the season and to take my maiden success here at Green Hell! The whole team did a brilliant job and managed the race to perfection. It was a pleasure to share the car with such a brilliant driver like Alessio and he did amazing!
