Huber Racing collects important points during difficult race weekend

Huber Racing experienced a difficult race weekend in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland at the DEKRA Lausitzring after team boss Christoph Huber was forced to pull out due to health reasons. But the Bavarian racing team scored solid points results and a podium finish in the ProAm standings.

Thanks to strong team cohesion, Huber Racing also mastered the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland race weekend at the DEKRA Lausitzring. Following the retirement of team boss Christoph Huber, operations manager Gerhard Freundorfer and team manager Luca Rettenbacher temporarily took over the team leadership. Due to the restrictions, the Bavarian team fielded five Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars in Brandenburg for Alexander Tauscher, Ariel Levi, Georgi Donchev, Jonas Greif and Sebastian Freymuth, thus reducing the line-up by two cars.

In the first race on Saturday, Freymuth from Berlin finished tenth overall in his home race. With this, the 21-year-old Freymuth set his best result in the competitive one-make cup. In an exciting race, the local hero fought his way up from 14th place on the grid. Another local hero showed a strong recovery in the race. Jonas Greif from Dresden was turned around in the starting scrum and fell back to the end of the field. In the half-hour race, Greif was able to work his way back to 19th position. The other Huber cars could not finish the race after collisions.

On Sunday, Alexander Tauscher and Ariel Levi were to strike back after Saturday's disappointing retirements. Tauscher moved up to fifth position at times after a strong start, but in a scramble after a safety car restart he dropped back to eighth, but as the race progressed the youngster eventually drove his way back to sixth position. Israeli Ariel Levi also scored a solid points result in eighth position.

One of the highlights of the race was the battle for the class win in the ProAm classification, which involved Bulgarian Georgi Donchev in a Huber Porsche. Together with a competitor, the Porsche veteran fought for victory until the last lap, but ultimately had to settle for second position.

"First of all, many thanks to the entire team for their hard work and the strong camaraderie with which we coped well with the difficult situation here at the Lausitzring," said Luca Rettenbacher, who gave up his own Carrera Cup entry for the team management. "For Sebastian we are very happy that he set his best result in the Carrera Cup so far after a strong performance at his home race and Jonas' comeback was also strong. Then on Sunday Alex and Ariel put in a strong performance and Georgi's battle for the class win in the ProAm classification was very exciting and spectacular! Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for us to win the class."

The next race weekend of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will take place in three weeks at the Sachsenring. Next weekend, Huber Racing will compete in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at Zandvoort.
