Strong Rounds in Barcelona reveal the champions of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe 2025
The 2025 edition of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe concluded with an intense final weekend in Barcelona, crowning the season’s champions. Flynt Schuring and Philippe Wils claimed the overall titles in the Sport and Club Division, respectively. After four exhilarating race weekends, the championship closed on a high note, with preparations for the 2026 season already underway.
"We can certainly be satisfied, though we will continue striving for progress," Series Manager Lars Plato reflected on the 2025 season. "Our series now holds strong international appeal, exactly as we envisioned. This growth was evident in our robust grids throughout the season, averaging 50 cars per weekend—27 in the Sport Division and 23 in the Club Division. We are fully prepared for another exciting season. I would like to extend my gratitude to the teams, drivers, partners, and all involved for an incredible four rounds!"
Levi fights to defend his title
Ariel Levi (Team GP Elite) put up a fierce battle in Barcelona to defend his 2024 crown, but in the end, the Sport Division title went to Flynt Schuring (Schumacher CLRT). Despite Levi’s dominance in qualifying, a victory in the first race, and a runner-up finish in the final race—one position ahead of Schuring—it was the Dutchman who emerged as the 2025 champion.
The closing races in the Sport Division were packed with drama and action. Levi secured pole position, with an incredibly close field that saw 15 drivers within a single second of the fastest time. In a testament to the competition’s level, 31 out of 32 cars qualified within two seconds of each other.
Levi led the field at the start, followed by Oeverhaus, fastest rookie Milan Marczak (RedAnt Racing), and Schuring. The Team GP Elite driver did everything he needed to, winning the first race. Oeverhaus and Schuring joined him on the podium, while Marczak triumphed in the rookie classification, finishing ahead of Hjelte Hoffner (MDM Motorsport) and Charl Michel Visser (Target Competition).
In the PRO-AM category, Henri Tuomaala (Koiranen) secured victory in the first race, sealing his championship title.
Oeverhaus takes first win, Schuring seals the title
The second race was just as thrilling as the first, with Theo Oeverhaus taking his maiden victory of the season, ahead of Ariel Levi and Flynt Schuring. This result confirmed Schuring as the new champion, following in the footsteps of Robert De Haan (2023) and Ariel Levi (2024). The final margin between Schuring and Levi was just three points. The overall championship standings saw Schuring ahead of Levi, with Chester Kieffer completing the top three.
Rookie champion Chester Kieffer (Schumacher CLRT) capped off his season with a win in the final race, finishing ahead of Milan Marczak and Mees Muller (PG Motorsport). In the PRO-AM class, Anthony Imperato emerged victorious in the final race of the season.
Philippe Wils and Patrick Cunha crowned champions in the Club Division
The 2025 Club Division of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe was dominated by Philippe Wils, who had already claimed the Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux title in 2024. The Belgian entrepreneur, perfectly embodying the Club Division spirit, secured the championship after finishing seventh in the first race and second in the final race in Barcelona.
During qualifying, Andre Fernandes (Veloso Motorsport) narrowly outpaced debutant Michael Cool by just five-thousandths of a second, with four other drivers within a single second, highlighting the competition’s intensity.
On race day, Angelo Fontana (EST1 Racing) delivered a commanding performance, winning both races. In the first contest, he held off Tobias Vazquez-Garcia (KKrämer Racing) and Lennart Hiemstra (Triple&Crown Racing). Fontana continued his dominance in the second race, securing victory ahead of newly crowned champion Wils and Javier Ripoll Jr., adding further success to EST1 Racing’s weekend.
The final Club Division podium saw Philippe Wils take the title, followed by Angelo Fontana and Andre Fernandes.
In the GT4 category, Patrick Cunha was simply unstoppable. The Veloso Motorsport driver secured pole position, won both races, and clinched the championship title. Cunha led the first race ahead of David Van Rosen (Team Neuhofer) and Caspar Hogeboom (Team GP Elite). In the second race, Hogeboom finished as runner-up, with Van Rosen completing the podium.
