Black Sheep Racing kicks of 2025 with strong performance at Sebring
Black Sheep Racing displayed an impressive performance in the 2025 Porsche Sprint Challenge North America season-opening round at Sebring International Raceway this past weekend. Team owner and sole driver Laura Ely showcased steady improvement in her No. 209 Porsche GT3, competing in the 992 Masters class.
This event marked Ely’s first race after leveling up from the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West championship, and she displayed promising results in her series debut. After qualifying 20th in class, Ely demonstrated strong race craft and determination, climbing through the field in both races. She worked her way up to a 15th-place finish in race one, gaining valuable positions on the bumpy and challenging Sebring circuit. Race two saw even greater progress, with Ely crossing the line 12th, capping off a weekend of continued development.
“As a team, our goal is always to make progress every session, every lap, and that’s exactly what we did this weekend,” explained Ely. “Sebring is such a demanding track, but we found speed, improved our race pace, and gained valuable experience that we’ll carry into the rest of the season. I consider it a win for the team. We are new to this series, and the competition is next level, so we look forward to continuing the improvement. I’m excited to build on this momentum moving forward.”
With a strong first event in the books, Black Sheep Racing now looks ahead to their next challenge at Sonoma Raceway, April 4-6. Ely and the team will continue their pursuit of success in the 992 Masters class as they take on one of the most iconic circuits on the West Coast.
