seven x seven Racing secures debut points on Porsche’s Super GT return

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific customer team seven x seven Racing finished eighth in the GT300 category on its maiden Super GT outing during a chaotic season opener at Okayama International Circuit.

After qualifying 13th, Tsubasa Kondo got the race underway in tricky wet conditions as he fought through the field excellently, handing over to Kiyoto Fujinami on Lap 45, with the two-time Super GT300 champion rejoining in first.

While the track began to dry out, the squad pitted for slick tyres on Lap 53 and battled through the challenging circumstances, before a prolonged Safety Car period ensued, leaving just 10 laps remaining.

As the race resumed, Fujinami dropped back a couple of places, but made several overtakes on the final lap to secure eighth in the GT300 class and take valuable points in an eventful season opener.

Round 2 of the 2025 campaign sees the championship head to the Shizuoka Prefecture to tackle Fuji Speedway on 3-4 May.

Kiyoto Fujinami, seven x seven Racing: “I’m pleased for the squad to achieve a points finish in its first-ever Super GT event. We were able to run in the top positions earlier in the race, showing the strength and ability of the team in very tricky conditions. This gives me a lot of confidence as we look forward to the upcoming races in 2025.”

Tsubasa Kondo, seven x seven Racing: “It was amazing to complete my first-ever Super GT event with Porsche! The car was excellent in the wet conditions, so I was able to make up several positions. We gained some valuable points and can’t wait to go racing next month at Fuji Speedway.”

Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “We’re delighted to see seven x seven Racing score points on its Super GT debut. It’s a proud moment to have Porsche competing again in Japan’s most competitive GT series. It was a tricky race with changeable conditions and lots of incidents, so the team did well to finish in the top-10 in these challenging circumstances. It’s a great platform to build off for the rest of the campaign, and we’re confident they will continue to achieve great results.”
