Duvashen and Indiran Padayachee to continue with GWR Racing for 2022

The father-and-son duo of Indiran and Duvashen Padayachee have confirmed they will contest the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship in 2022 with GWR Australia, after purchasing one of Porsche’s Type 992 911 GT3 Cup machines.

Indiran and Duvashen will share driving duties across the season, with Duvashen returning in the Mobil Pro class and Indiran competing in the Morris Finance Pro-Am division.

Both drivers are well-accustomed to Porsche machinery. Duvashen has experience in several models of Porsche Cup car, having completed his first Carrera Cup season in 2013, while Indiran began racing in the premier Porsche series in 2018 and previously raced in the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge (formerly known as GT3 Cup Challenge) and NSW Production Sports categories.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into the category, and the new car looks absolutely amazing,” Duvashen said.

“I don’t know how Porsche manage to keep improving these cars, but the 992 looks seriously impressive.

“Carrera Cup has always been a professional category, but the new car is going to lift the presentation to another level. We’ve been able to attract some new sponsors for the season and I can’t wait to get into it!”

“We’ve decided to stay with GWR for 2022, because they’ve been an absolutely fantastic team to work with,” Indiran added.

“From what we’ve heard, the 992 is going to be a couple of seconds quicker, so we’ll see how we can extract that next year.”

GWR Australia team owner Garth Walden said the 2022 Carrera Cup deal is an extension of a long-term relationship with the Padayachees.

“The Padayachees have been with GWR for a number of years now, in a range of categories, so it’s great to lock them in for 2022,” Walden said.

“It’s exciting to see Duvashen back in the car next year – it’s going to be fantastic to have father and son sharing the car.”

The Padayachee entry will be one of two Type 992 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars run by GWR in Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia next season, with the driver of the second car to be announced in the coming weeks.
