Dylan Pereira and Porsche Junior Laurin Heinrich on the front row

Dylan Pereira has created a good starting position to achieve his third Supercup victory in Spa-Francorchamps after 2019 and 2021: The Luxembourger from the BWT Lechner Racing team secured pole position in qualifying on the Belgian Formula 1 circuit . The second fastest time was set by Porsche Junior Laurin Heinrich. The German in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of the SSR Huber Racing team had to admit defeat by 0.364 seconds. Frenchman Marvin Klein (CLRT) and reigning Supercup champion Larry ten Voorde (Team GP Elite) from the Netherlands will start from the second row. The sixth round of the season starts on Sunday (28 August) at 12:05 p.m., right before the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix.

Before qualifying, Dylan Pereira wasn't quite sure if the best time would even be his goal. The reason for this is the characteristics of the Formula 1 race track in the Ardennes: Shortly after the start, following the spectacular Eau Rouge/Raidillon corner combination, comes the Kemmel straight, which is around two kilometers long. "The perfect place to overtake from the slipstream, especially on the first lap, when all the cars are still relatively close together," explains Pereira. "Whoever drives up front has a big disadvantage here."

Porsche Junior Laurin Heinrich, second quickest in qualifying in the 375 kW (510 hp) Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, brings another factor into play: “Before the Eau Rouge, there is the La Source hairpin bend. Here it is usually pretty chaotic after the start. The further back in the field you ride, the greater the risk. If I had the choice, I would rather start from pole position,” explains the 20-year-old from near Würzburg.

Pereira and Heinrich are part of a group of five that has already moved slightly ahead of the rest of the field in the overall standings. Also present is the reigning Supercup champion Larry ten Voorde (Team GP Elite), who with fourth place on the grid also still has the best chance of a top result in the race on Sunday. The current third in the table from the Netherlands shares the second row with Frenchman Marvin Klein (CLRT). The rookies Lorcan Hanafin (FACH AUTO TECH) from Great Britain and Bastian Buus (BWT Lechner Racing) have qualified for the third row. After five races, the Dane is fifth in the overall standings.

The Brit Harry King had bad luck. Fourth in the standings from the BWT Lechner Racing team was on his way to a possible best time in the final seconds of dry qualifying. Shortly before the finish line, however, he was involved in a collision while overtaking a slower competitor. For King, it remained the eighth fastest time previously achieved.

In order to avoid similar problems on Sunday, pole setter Dylan Pereira came up with a simple tactic: "I get off to a perfect start and outpace everyone from the start."
