Flynt Schuring dominates in Estoril (Sport Division), while André Fernandes and Angelo Fontana share victories in the Club Division

The picturesque Estoril circuit, set against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, hosted the second round of the 2025 Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe season. Following an exciting season opener in Portimão, the racing action in Estoril did not disappoint. At the halfway stage of the championship, Flynt Schuring (Schumacher CLRT) and Philippe Wils (Proton Huber Competition) have emerged as the frontrunners in the Sport and Club Divisions, respectively. However, the battle for the titles remains intense across the board.

Qualifying: Margins of milliseconds decide the starting grid

Race weekends begin with free practice and qualifying, setting the stage for the intense battles ahead. The Sport Division saw an electrifying duel between championship leader Ariel Levi (Team GP Elite) and Flynt Schuring. Levi clinched pole position by an incredibly slim margin of six-thousandths of a second over Schuring. The competition was fierce, with eight other drivers, led by Domas Raudonis and Dréke Janssen (both Team GP Elite), qualifying within a second of the pole-sitter.

The Club Division produced a similarly thrilling qualifying session, with André Fernandes (Veloso Motorsport) securing pole just two-tenths ahead of Angelo Fontana (EST1 Racing). Fontana barely edged out his teammate Javier Ripoll Jr. for the front-row spot. Championship leader Philippe Wils had an unfortunate session, qualifying last and facing a tough climb through the field.

Club Division: Tight battles for the top

The opening race in the Club Division mirrored the qualifying session, as front-row starters Fernandes and Fontana engaged in a gripping contest. After 19 laps, Fernandes secured victory by just three-tenths over Fontana, while Ripoll Jr. followed six seconds behind in third. Philippe Wils delivered an outstanding comeback drive, missing the podium by only four-tenths.

Race two saw Fontana turn the tables, taking the win with a two-second lead over Wils, who claimed second. Ripoll Jr. repeated his third-place finish. Despite his qualifying setback, Wils maintained his lead in the points standings with a 26-point advantage over Fontana. Ripoll Jr. remains in close contention, trailing Fontana by just two points. The championship battle is shaping up to be a three-way showdown.

Sport Division: Supercup-style duels

The Sport Division's first race was a high-octane affair, with the top three drivers finishing within a single second of each other. Flynt Schuring emerged victorious, narrowly beating Ariel Levi and a resurgent Dréke Janssen. Domas Raudonis finished fourth, less than 1.5 seconds behind the winner, followed by Nick Ho (PG Motorsport).

Sacha Norden (Proton Huber Competition) secured sixth place, while rookie standout Chester Kieffer (Schumacher CLRT) impressed once again with a solid performance following his strong showing in Portimão. Among the rookies, Mees Muller (PG Motorsport) and Charl Michel Visser (Target Competition) joined Kieffer on the podium. The PRO-AM class saw Sören Spreng (Team GP Elite) take victory, ahead of Anthony Imperato (Ombra Racing) and Henri Tuomaala (Koiranen).

The second race followed a similar script, with Schuring securing back-to-back wins, once again ahead of Levi. Kieffer continued his stellar form by finishing third, while Janssen and Ho rounded out the top five. In the rookie category, Matheus Ferreira (Target Competition) finished second, followed by Mees Muller in third.

In the overall standings, Schuring leads with 91 points, closely followed by Levi with 85. Kieffer, in third place with 49 points, also leads the rookie classification. Meanwhile, Henri Tuomaala tops the PRO-AM standings at the halfway mark of the season.
