Job and Chadwick win as Esports Carrera Cup GB debuts wet weather conditions

Sebastian Job from East Grinstead in Surrey survived a slippery Snetterton to take victory in the third race of the Porsche Esports Carrera Cup GB season. The championship leader led from pole position on a damp circuit, the venue of his recent real life test of the 510hp 911 GT3 Cup for Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing’s documentary Game to Glory: Level Up. A challenging second race, the first to take place in full wet weather conditions, was won by William Chadwick from Wrightington in Wigan.

The arrival of rain towards the end of Round Three shook up the order in both the Pro and Amateur category battles. Am leader Aidan Walsingham from Bath in Somerset was overtaken by Guy R Edwards from Staines-upon-Thames in Surrey. Edwards was then beaten to the top step of the virtual Am category podium in the weekend’s second encounter. Christian Szaruta from London successfully mastered the iRacing platform’s realistic dynamic weather system to take his second Am win of the season.

Job and Chadwick slide to Pro victories at Snetterton

Luke McKeown from Shoreham-by-Sea in West Sussex staked an early claim on pole position in a dry qualifying session on Snetterton’s longer 300 layout. However, with just 20 seconds left on the clock Job swept into the top spot to take his second pole of 2025. Job led the 29 car grid into the first corner at the start of Round Three, Chadwick and Peter Berryman from Corby in Northamptonshire squeezed together just behind. At the end of the opening lap Job led McKeown from Berryman.

Berryman was soon forced to defend from an attacking Chadwick, Job and McKeown used the opportunity to pull clear at the front of the race. Leo Gariboli from Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire successfully adopted eighth place from Porsche Sprint Challenge GB’s Jacob Tofts from Harlow in Essex, but Tofts came under fire from Matt J Caruana from Reading in Berkshire. Gariboli, Tofts and Caruana soon became entangled with Porsche Carrera Cup GB’s Charles Rainford in a melee at the Brundle and Nelson corners, however Gariboli remained ahead.

In the final five minutes of the race light rain arrived leaving the drivers struggling for grip on slick tyres in slippery conditions. Berryman came under renewed pressure from Chadwick who first tried to pass on the inside line, then attempted the outside line at Riches but neither would stick. On the final lap of the race leaders Job and McKeown ran wide onto the wet grass at Brundle before rejoining the circuit. McKeown got another chance into Murrays but Job forced him to the outside, Job gained just enough traction out of the corner to cross the finish line ahead. Meanwhile there was a change for third place as Chadwick secured the final Pro category podium position from Berryman.

The top eight finishers from Race One were reversed for Race Two, with David Williams from Leicester in Leicestershire starting from pole position. Williams got away well as Esports Carrera Cup GB debuted full wet weather conditions for the first time in championship history. As Crofton Woodhatch from Midsomer Norton in Radstock slipped back from second on the grid, an attempt at the race lead from Gariboli at Coram was denied. Williams led Gariboli from Berryman and Chadwick. Having already passed McKeown, Job dispatched Matt Emery from Nutfield in Surrey to take sixth place.

On the second lap Gariboli attacked Williams at Riches but slid wide, Job also left the circuit at the same corner before rejoining. Berryman snatched first place with Williams and Chadwick giving chase in the simulated spray, however an error by Williams resulted in contact with Berryman, this made Chadwick the new overall leader. Gariboli was now second with Williams continuing in third. As the drivers hunted for grip in the challenging conditions a recovering Job overtook Tofts for fifth. Another to gain was Kane Haliburton from Hayes in Middlesex – up to P17 from the last spot on the grid.

With 10 minutes remaining Williams, Tofts and Berryman engaged in a close fight for fifth, Williams eventually slipped behind his rivals before Tofts also fell backwards. Tofts triumphed later in a scrap with Isaac Price from Telford in Shropshire and Caruana for seventh – the trio went three wide on the Bentley Straight. In the final few minutes of the race Haliburton continued his progress by passing Rainford for P12 overall, and McKeown got ahead of Gariboli for second. However, attentions quickly turned to Chadwick as he took the chequered flag first.

Edwards and Szaruta take Am category glory

Aidan Walsingham from Bath in Somerset started Round Three from Am pole position and led the category early on in the race. Scott Moakes from Meppershall in Bedfordshire and Edwards gave chase. With 10 minutes of racing complete an exciting dice for ninth in Am intensified between Tom Stevens from Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire, Conan Wearn from Norwich in Norfolk and Jakub Urbanczyk from London – Stevens managed to stay ahead.

In the closing stages of the race Moakes adopted the category lead as rain began to upset the established order, Walsingham was now in second, however it would all change on the last few laps. Edwards raced into the Am lead to take the flag first, he was followed by Walsingham and Christian Szaruta from London, though following a post-race penalty for Walsingham the final top three would be Edwards, Moakes and Szaruta.

In the full wet weather conditions of Round Four, Szaruta led Edwards from Walsingham at the start and that is how the order would initially remain. In the second half of the race Szaruta and Edwards found themselves being chased by Stevens, and their battle for category victory would go right to the last lap. Edwards closed to within touching distance of Szaruta as they drove to the flag, with Szaruta finishing just ahead.

Following the weekend an incident between Jacob Tofts and Gareth Higgins in qualifying saw five seconds added to the Accumulated Penalty Time (APT) of Tofts. The same penalty was applied to Jakub Urbanczyk for an incident with Christian Szaruta. For an incident with Gareth Higgins, five seconds was added to the Round Three race time of Aidan Walsingham. For causing a collision with multiple cars, 10 seconds was added to the race time of Jakub Urbanczyk. Oliver Ettridge was handed a five second time penalty for contact with Tom Stevens, Stevens saw 10 seconds added to his race time for an incident with Sam Fitzpatrick.

For an incident in the first race between Luke Pennington and Isaac Price, 10 seconds was added to the Race One time of Pennington. Jakub Urbanczyk saw another 10 seconds added to his Race One time for an incident with Conan Wearn and Gareth Higgins. Finally, Kane Halliburton received a five second race time penalty for contact with Dylan Platt. Jakub Urbanczyk has now accumulated a total of 34 seconds of APT and will not be permitted to participate in the next qualifying session of the season.
