Larry ten Voorde defends the overall victory in Hockenheim

Larry ten Voorde (Team GP Elite) is champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany for the second time in a row after his eighth win of the season. The Dutchman won the 15th race of the season on Saturday at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg and is unmatched at the top of the table with 306 points before the final race on Sunday. “That was a tough season, I'm over the moon. In the race I was fully focused on my performance, but when I was around the last corner, the emotions came through, ”said ten Voorde. Laurin Heinrich (Germany / Van Berghe Huber Racing) and Morris Schuring (Netherlands / Team GP Elite) finished on the podium two and three in the race in the supporting program of the ADAC GT Masters. The duel in the ProAm rating is also decided:

The starting position was clearly defined for ten Voorde: If the 25-year-old reaches the finish in his 510 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup ahead of Porsche Junior Ayhancan Güven (Turkey / Phoenix Racing), he will be champion. Due to a technical defect in the starting lights, the race began behind the safety car. Pole setter ten Voorde was unimpressed and gained a lead of over a second in the initial phase. There was competition behind the GP elite driver. Heinrich put more and more pressure on Schuring and overtook the Dutch rookie on lap 14. Heinrich could no longer significantly reduce the distance to ten Voorde. After 19 laps ten Voorde won 2.9 seconds ahead of the Huber driver. The 25-year-old was the first driver to

Ten Voordes team-mate Schuring secured his first podium in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany at Hockenheim: “That is a great result. Second place would have been even better, but Laurin Heinrich was significantly faster and I didn't want to jeopardize my great result with a defensive maneuver that was too risky, ”said the 16-year-old. Fourth place went to Leon Köhler (Germany / Nebulus Racing by Huber) ahead of Rudy van Buren (Netherlands / CarTech Motorsport by Nigrin) and Christopher Zöchling (Austria / Fach Auto Tech).

The race was unhappy for Ayhancan Güven. The 23-year-old drove in fourth position for a long time. After a braking mistake in the final phase, Güven finished the race in seventh place. “Unfortunately, I didn't have the speed right from the start to attack the title duel. Nevertheless, I was able to hold fourth position until shortly before the end of the race. We will analyze the race and give everything again on Sunday, ”summarized Güven. Jukka Honkavuori (Finland / MRS GT-Racing) crossed the finish line in eighth place on the 4.574-kilometer route.

In the ProAm classification, Rivas celebrated his tenth win of the current season ahead of Kim Hauschild (Germany / HRT Motorsport) and Bashar Mardini (UAE / Van Berghe Huber Racing). This makes the Luxembourger champion in the ProAm class for the third time in a row. “Defending the title was our goal. I am proud that we have achieved this ahead of schedule. In the race I was in second ProAm position for a long time. But I knew that my vehicle would be fast in the final phase thanks to the setup settings. That paid off, ”said Rivas.

The trophies on the podium were presented by Alexander Pollich, CEO of Porsche Deutschland GmbH, and Thomas Laudenbach, Head of Porsche Motorsport. “Three out of four title decisions were still open before the season finale. That speaks for a consistently strong level and high performance density in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. Congratulations to Larry ten Voorde and Carlos Rivas, who have earned their title defenses with great performances, ”said Pollich.

Another decision will be made on Sunday: The Dutchman Loek Hartog (Black Falcon Team Textar / 285 points) and the Dane Bastian Buus (Allied-Racing / 273 points) fight for victory in the rookie class. There is still a maximum of 25 points to be won. Team GP Elite secured the title in the team classification on the last race weekend at the Sachsenring.

The final round of the 16th season of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany starts on Sunday at 3:10 p.m. local time. Sport1 shows the race live on free TV. Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister will be there as a co-commentator. The race will also be broadcast live on the YouTube and Facebook channels of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and in the Porsche Motorsport Hub.
