Manthey to enter three Porsche 911 GT3 R in the 2025 DTM season
Manthey will compete in the 2025 DTM season and, for the first time, will field not two but three Porsche 911 GT3 R in the sprint racing series. Teammates from 2024, Ayhancan Güven (Turkey) and Thomas Preining (Austria), will line up again for Manthey EMA in 2025. Morris Schuring (Netherlands), who contested the FIA WEC season with Manthey last year and was victorious in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is a new addition to the DTM line-up. The nine-eleven of the, at the start of the season, 20-year-old youngest Dutchman in the history of the DTM, will be entered under the name “Manthey Junior Team”.
Porsche works driver Thomas Preining is heading into his fourth DTM season this year. He not only became DTM champion with Manthey EMA in 2023, but also finished in the points in all 32 DTM races with the team over the past two years. For his teammate Ayhancan Güven, this will be the third DTM season. He celebrated his first DTM podium with Manthey at the season finale at the Hockenheimring last year. The two DTM teammates also shared the cockpit of the Porsche entered by Manthey EMA on the Nordschleife, finishing in second place in the 2024 Nürburgring 24 Hours. 19-year-old Morris Schuring will be making his DTM debut, but is by no means a stranger to the Manthey team. Last year, he finished second overall with the team in the LMGT3 Endurance Trophy of the FIA WEC, secured victory in his class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and celebrated his first GT3 podium on the Nordschleife at NLS6 in the Grello. Prior to these endurance races, he competed successfully in the Porsche Supercup and the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany from 2021 to 2023. In the latter sprint series, he temporarily held the record for the youngest winner in the history of the one-make series.
After Manthey EMA crowned its DTM debut with Porsche by winning the Team and Drivers' Championships in the 2023 season, the team won the DTM Pitstop Challenge in 2024, but finished an unsatisfactory sixth overall in the team standings. In 2025, Manthey aims to challenge for the title again - for the first time with three cars instead of two and a strong driver trio.
“After our expectations were not met in 2024, but we were very satisfied with our team's performance, we are looking forward to competing in the DTM in 2025 with an even stronger line-up. In our third season in the series, we want to fully attack again,” explains Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of the Manthey Racing GmbH. I am delighted that Ayhancan and Thomas will be staying with our team and hope that this year's results will reflect the very good cooperation. Morris had a very successful WEC season in 2024. He is a young driver who has really impressed us with his performances, so the next logical step is the DTM.” “As our junior driver in the sprint series, Morris will now be able to prove his skills in this series as well and I am really happy that he will be joining our DTM team after his strong performances with us in endurance racing. We have great confidence in our driver trio and are looking forward to an exciting season in which we want to fight for the championship again,” adds Patrick Arkenau, Division Manager Racing.
While the starting numbers 90 and 91 will be entered in the familiar Grello design, the design and starting number of the third nine-eleven will be announced at a later date.
The DTM season opener will take place from 25 to 27 April at the Motorsportarena Oschersleben. As in the previous season, a total of fourteen more races in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands await the DTM teams in 2025.
Quotes on the 2025 DTM season:
Ayhancan Güven: “I am really happy to be on the DTM grid again for the 2025 season with Manthey! Last year didn’t match our expectations, but during the year we showed great improvement, especially in the second half of the season, in which I was also able to celebrate my first podium with Manthey in the DTM. That will be our starting point for 2025. I know what we can do and what results we are capable of and our goals are ambitious. Preparations are going smoothly and I can't wait for the new season to start!”
Thomas Preining: “I am pleased that everything will remain as it is and that we will continue to work together as a team. I believe that consistency is hugely important in our sport and it helps immensely if you can work with the same people over the years. You grow closer and closer together and we will try to benefit from that this year. We've already had a lot of great moments together as a team. 2024 was certainly a difficult season for us, but that's part of the game and makes us stronger in the end. Now we're coming back with a clear goal: we want to be champions again!”
Morris Schuring: “For me, the DTM has always been one of the series I wanted to drive in. It's a dream come true and I'm particularly proud to be doing it with Manthey. They are one of the best teams, which they've proven by winning the 2023 DTM title. Last year we won Le Mans together and I am happy to now be working with them in a sprint series as well. I love sprint racing and the DTM gives me the opportunity to really prove myself as a driver. Thanks to my experience in the Porsche Carrera Cup, I already know seven of the DTM circuits - only the Norisring will be new to me. I'm super motivated and have been working very hard over the winter to be prepared as best as I can. I am also very proud to now call Ayhancan and Thomas my teammates. I know them from previous races, they're both great drivers and I respect them a lot.”
