Porsche Cup Brasil covers almost 8,000 km with the new car, without major incidents

There have been no time-outs or races yet, but the pre-season journey of the Porsche Cup C6 Bank Mastercard at Interlagos allows us to say that 2022 started with big numbers for the most produced competition cars on the planet. There were no less than 3,020 laps covered, for a total of 13,013 km. The distance covered by the cars of the biggest Gran Turismo event in Latin America at Interlagos is equivalent to crossing the Brazilian territory three times from its extremes North to South or from East to West.

The feat is even more relevant considering that it was the first contact of the new fleet of 26 cars of the 992 generation with their titular drivers. The new Carrera Cup cars covered a total of 1,820 laps, for a total of 7,842 km in São Paulo. Only one malfunction was recorded, quickly remedied by the Porsche Cup C6 Bank Mastercard team with the exchange of a car gearbox.

The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup models of the 991/2 generation, which are now the official cars of the Sprint Challenge category, covered a total of 1,200 laps, for a total of 5,170 km.

To meet the demand of the 47 starting drivers participating in the pre-season sessions, no less than 170 sets of Michelin slick tires were needed.

The cars were filled with 564 liters of Mobil oil and used between 8,000 and 9,000 liters of high-performance fuel.

After all the tests have been carried out on the track, both the new Carrera Cup and Sprint Challenge cars will then undergo a thorough review process.

The goal is to arrive in Goiânia with everything running at Porsche standard -immaculately- for the first round of the Sprint championship, at the beginning of April.

What Dener Pires , Porsche Cup C6 Bank Mastercard promoter said:

“It's a good sum of mileage. Honestly, I had no idea about that. It is the result of a few factors: firstly the quality of the Porsche product and also the quality of the team. We had new cars here, newly manufactured with all the drama that the global automotive industry has been experiencing, which arrived with the need for a recall. The team worked very hard to dismantle 26 gearboxes and gas tanks and get the cars running in order. So the 992 arrived working very well.

The previous generation cars, which already have four years of history with us, also performed very well. Again, thanks to the team that has done a wonderful job of reviewing since the end of the 2021 season. So it's a sum: a good job and a good product.”

“All the drivers are in new cars and that also needs to be emphasized. The competitors of the Sprint Challenge, now received the 991/2, a very current and fast vehicle, new for them that now have at their disposal a more powerful engine, more speed, ABS brakes, etc. As for the Carrera Cup drivers, who then received a completely new car, with a completely new design, the '992'. They had the opportunity to do all the tests, understand the most varied adjustments. So everyone was happy and I can already tell that records are being broken from all sides.”
