Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific teams and drivers will take on four championships across Europe and Asia this weekend, with Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA), Porsche Sports Cup China (PSCC), European Le Mans Series (ELMS) and Thailand Super Series (TSS) all in action.

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Selected Driver Yifei Ye and Absolute Racing will both return to the track in ELMS as the series visits Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya for Round 4 of the 2022 campaign.

Ye has impressed in the championship so far this season, particularly at the most recent event in Monza, where he executed several overtakes during his stint. Racing in the #37 COOL Racing Oreca 07, the 22-year-old will be aiming for further success alongside teammates Nicolas Lapierre and Niklas Krütten.

Meanwhile, Shanghai-based Absolute Racing will be looking to repeat their performance in Italy, where they secured their first podium finish of the season. Indonesian driver Andrew Haryanto, former Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Selected Driver Alessio Picariello and Estonian racer Martin Rump will again take to the wheel of the #18 Porsche 911 RSR in Spain.

Thailand Super Series returns this weekend for Round 2 of the 2022 campaign, with several Porsche entries competing across the different classes at the Chang International Circuit.

In the Pro-Am category of the Thailand Supercar GTM class, brothers Munkong and Tanart Sathienthirakul team up for Mongkol Motorsports in the #15 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup. Tanart’s GT World Challenge Asia teammate Kantadhee Kusiri will also race in the same class, alongside Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak in the #17 AAS Motorsport Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup.

Four Porsche entries are set to race in the Am category, with Yotsarun Sansuk and Hideharu Kuroki in the 888 CarWash with Kuroki Racing Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup.

There’s also a trio of Porsche 991.1 GT3 Cup cars competing. Pasarit Promsombat will race for YK Motorsports Billionaire Boy By Sunoco, Jakraphan Davee and Phaophong Chanchalia will be in the Alpha Factory Racing Team by Pulzar car and PT Maxnitron Motorsport field Silapa Teeraniti and Grant Supaphong.

Finally, in the GTC class, Gregory Slatin Bennett and Adisak Tangphuncharoen will compete for B-Quik Racing Team. American racer Bennett takes to the track in the #11 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, while Tangphuncharoen will be in the #26 Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Patchara Wuthichat completes the entries, racing for Diamond Motorsport Racing Team by A Motorsport in the #99 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup Mk. II.

Over in China, Porsche Carrera Cup Asia travels to Tianjin for the next two rounds of its 2022 campaign. Leo Ye got off to the perfect start in Zhuzhou four weeks ago with two victories for JUNJIE Racing. Meanwhile, Lu Wei sits atop the Pro-Am class, with Tang Ruobin leading the way in the Am category.

At the same venue, Porsche Sports Cup China hosts Rounds 3-4 of the 2022 season. In the Porsche Sprint Challenge China, Eric Zang will compete in the TORO Racing #911 Porsche 911 GT3 R, with Ke Yang and Jeffrey Zee racing in two Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars for Shanghai Pudong and Waigaoqiao 69 Racing.

There will also be five GT4 cars present, two Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, two Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport and one Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR.

As was the case in the first round at Ningbo last month, the Porsche Parade, Introduction to Race Track and one and three-lap Time Trial events will also take place, giving new racers the opportunity to experience on-track action for the first time.

Yifei Ye, #37 COOL Racing Oreca 07: “The summer break is over and we’re prepared for the second half of the championship. It’s been great to have some time off to recharge and now I feel ready to tackle the remaining rounds. We’ve had great speed all season so I’m confident we’ll have a strong car in Barcelona. It will be challenging with the hot temperatures but I’m excited to be back racing this weekend.”

Andrew Haryanto, #18 Porsche 911 RSR: "The next round at Barcelona will be a challenge, but I’m confident we can put in a strong performance. I’m going to use the practice sessions to familiarise myself with the track and get used to the car again, as it’s been a while since we last raced!"

Alessio Picariello, #18 Porsche 911 RSR: “It was a good feeling to get the podium finish at Monza but there are still improvements to make, so we have to keep pushing. We’re expecting the race to be tough on tyre degradation, we know it’s going to be hot so we’ll have to look after them. I’m looking forward to jumping back in the car and racing once again.”

Martin Rump, #18 Porsche 911 RSR: "Summer break is over and it’s time to get back to business, continuing the season in Barcelona. So far we’ve been on an upwards curve and we’ll be aiming to continue that momentum this weekend."
