Proton Huber Competition is celebrating success on two continents

Last weekend, Proton Huber Competition took part in three series on two continents – the team based in Hofkirchen rose to the challenge with strong results and a victory in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe.

Just one week after the Dubai 24 Hours race, Proton Huber Competition continued at a rapid pace. The Bavarian racing team was involved in three events at once! The team entered one Porsche 911 GT3 R in the 6 Hours of Abu Dhabi, while two cars competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East in Dubai. The programme was rounded off by the team's entry of six cars in the opening round of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe at Portimão.

6h Abu Dhabi:

Jörg Dreisow and Manuel Lauck made their comeback in the 24H Series at the spectacular Yas Marina Circuit. The round in the United Arab Emirates marked the start of the programme in the series, as the two pilots will take part in all five remaining European races. They were supported by Gabriel Rindone in the Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The trio put in a strong performance in the race and were in contention for a podium finish in the GT3 Am class for a long time. After six hours of racing, the drivers finally took a much-celebrated third place. A promising start to the drivers' endurance season.

Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East:

About an hour from the Yas Marina Circuit, Angus Whiteside and Krister Andero started for Proton Huber Competition at the Dubai Autodrome for the third race weekend of the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East.

The Briton Whidside finished third in the Pro class in both races. In the Masters category for ambitious gentleman drivers, the Swede Andero secured a strong second place in the night race on Saturday evening. On Sunday, he followed this up with a fourth place. After both races, Proton Huber Competition was honoured as the best team after both races.

Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe:

The Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe kicked off the European Porsche season in Portimão. The team from Hofkirchen fielded no fewer than six 911 GT3 Cup cars on the Algarve coast. The line-up was led by Sacha Norden and Josh Stanton in the Sport Division. In the first race, Dutchman Norden put up a spectacular fight for victory, which he only just missed out on. Stanton finished the race in tenth place. In the second race, which took place in the rain, Norden was unable to repeat his performance from the first race and finished in tenth place, with his British partner following two places behind him.

The club division saw Philippe Wils, Merabi Mekvabishvili, 79-year-old Dominique Bastien and Eric Santos compete for the reigning champion team from the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany. Wils delivered an excellent performance under difficult conditions: after finishing second in the first race, he managed to win the second encounter. His team colleagues were in the midfield in both races.
