Roxy the Prehistoric Porsche to Race at Indy’s Hallowed Grounds

After making her race weekend debut two weeks ago at VIRginia International Raceway, Roxy, the AO Racing prehistoric pink Porsche 911 GT3 Rawr will again race in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for this weekend’s TireRack.com Battle On the Bricks. In racing this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the fan-favorite T-Rex will again sub for her brother, Rexy, the green Porsche as he begins his long journey home from Japan’s 6 Hours of Fuji in the World Endurance Championship.

“The introduction of Roxy at VIRginia International Raceway ended up being our best finish of the year,” said Team Manager and Driver Gunnar Jeannette. “We’re excited to see what Roxy can do across the famous yard of bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway!”

Inspired by the interests of his two children, Team Owner and Driver PJ Hyett, along with Team Manager and co-driver Gunnar Jeannette brought the green Rexy T-Rex livery to life earlier this year at the Twelve Hours of Sebring, and the Porsche 911 GT3 Rawr has been a fan favorite ever since. The Rexy livery made its international debut on the Project 1 – AO Racing Porsche 911 RSR at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and appeared again at the 6 Hours of Fuji. Due to Rexy’s long journey to and from Japan, the IMSA team introduced Roxy to the world at VIRginia International Raceway, again capturing the hearts of fans all over the world. Rexy previously tested with the team at Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier this summer, but it will be the prehistoric pink T-Rex livery entertaining the fans this weekend.

Roxy will kick off race week in Speedway, Indianapolis, beginning with the IMSA Street Festival on Thursday, September 14th. Open to all and free of charge, Main Street in Speedway will host over 30 race cars and 50 race car drivers, offering pit stop demonstrations and a Q&A for those in attendance. Roxy will be on display with her fellow competitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET.

The following afternoon, Roxy will take to the circuit, stretching her little T-Rex legs on the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway for her first practice session of the weekend. The five IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship classes will compete on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile road course, returning from a nine-year series absence. Sunday’s Battle On the Bricks will act as the final sprint race of the 2023 season, with a runtime of two hours and forty minutes, beginning Saturday, September 16 at 1:00 PM ET on NBC. International audiences can stream live on imsa.tv or check imsa.com for international listings.
