RS1 Leads the Field Overall and In Class for GT4 Race 1, Premier Racing Captures Pro/Am Pole

International sportscar racing made its Louisiana debut at NOLA Motorsports Park this weekend when 32 cars took to the track for the Pirelli GT4 America qualifying sessions Saturday morning to claim their starting positions for the weekend’s Round 3 & 4 races of the season.

Qualifying 1

The first qualifying session set the stage for Race 1 starting positions. After a red flag at the 10-minute mark, drivers were left to scramble with roughly five minutes left on the clock to solidify their position for today’s race. 

The RS1 team picked up where they left off at Sonoma following a sweep of the podium by logging the fastest lap overall and in the Silver class with a time of 1:43.072 in their #18 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport with driver Eric Filguiras taking the first stint at the wheel. He was followed in the Silver class by the #34 Conquest Racing/JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 piloted by Gavin Sanders with a lap time of 1:44.940. Third was the #51 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4 car driven by Austen Smith who put down a lap time of 1:45.024.

In Pro-Am class action, the #120 Premier Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport car was the leader of the pack with Adam Adelson behind the wheel recording a 1:44.046 lap time. Rounding out the top three was the #52 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4, driven by Tom Capizzi with a lap time of 1:44.956, and local favorites NOLASPORT with their #47 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport with Scott Noble at the wheel with a time of 1:45.464.

The Am class leader was the #7 NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, car driven by Sam Owen posting a fastest in class lap time of 1:45.007. Owen was followed by the #53 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4, with a lap time of 1:45.469 with driver Rob Walker. Rounding out the top three was the #36 Bimmerworld BMW M4 GT4 with a lap time of 1:45.601 by driver Charlie Postins.

Qualifying 2

The second qualifying session was halted by a red flag with four minutes left, but Steven McAleer kept the #18 RS1 Porsche in the top spot overall in class with a fastest lap time of 1:42.761 making it a clean sweep of pole positions for both races. The top three positions in class remained the same in standings from the Qualifying 1 session with the #34 Conquest Racing/JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4, driven by Stephens with a lap time of 1:43.373, followed by the #51 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4 driven by Zac Anderson.

Pro-Am was once again led by the #120 Premier Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport driven by Elliott Skeer with a lap time of 1:42.844. Moving up to the second position was the #15 BSport Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 who recorded a lap time of 1:43.093 with Kenton Koch at the wheel. Koch was followed by the #47, NOLASPORT Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport who had a lap time of 1:43.116 with driver Jason Hart.

The Am class had some change up at the top with the #83 RS1 Porsche718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, driven by Juan Martinez laying down the fastest lap time of 1:44.599. Martinez was followed by the #21Carrus Callas Raceteam Toyota GR Supra GT4 with Gregory Liefooghein in the driver’s seat, recording a lap time of 1:44.704. Rounding out the top three in class was Charlie Postins in the #36 Bimmerworld BMW M4 GT4 who posted a lap time of 1:44.866.

The #49 Team Saleen entry, driven by Steve Saleen and Eric Curran, are entered in the Invitational class and qualified fourth overall in both sessions with their Saleen 1 car.
