TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team starts the season finale with points winning

At the start of the final weekend of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, André Lotterer (GER) finished in the points at the Berlin E-Prix. With his Porsche 99X Electric, he finished tenth on the Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit and thus scored one point for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team. Season 7 of the world's first electric racing series will end on Sunday with another race on the capital city circuit, which will then be driven in the opposite direction.

The race 14
Last year André Lotterer stood on the podium in Berlin. This time he started the penultimate race of the season from 14th on the grid, in which the pilots could only activate one attack mode for the first time and secure additional energy for eight minutes. In sunshine and midsummer temperatures, the veteran was consistently fast and made it into the points. Things didn't go so well for his team-mate Pascal Wehrlein (GER), who had traveled to Berlin with a theoretical title chance: Having started from ninth position, his Porsche 99X Electric suffered a tire damage on lap nine after contact with a competitor. As a result, he fell far behind and finally finished in 21st place.

Quotes about the Berlin E-Prix, Race 14

Amiel Lindesay, Head of Operations Formula E:
“Today was not our day. For our home race we had definitely expected more. But for both drivers - through no fault of their own - things did not go optimally: Pascal was hit by a competitor in the back left and had to go to the pits to change tires. The crew did a good job and got him back on track on the same lap. His gap to the top was still too big. André drove a very solid race and made up a few positions. Unfortunately, the safety car hit the track in the middle of its attack mode, so that it couldn't use a large part of its additional energy. All in all, it was a difficult day for us. We will analyze overnight what we can do better tomorrow. "

André Lotterer, Porsche works driver (# 36):“It wasn't an easy race. At the start I got away quite well, but then got stuck in the crowd a little. However, I was able to regain my position quickly and was really happy with my car. But when the safety car hit the track, I still had two minutes in attack mode, and of course I missed that to catch up with the leaders and achieve an even better result. Tomorrow we have to try to start again from the beginning. Then a successful end to the season is possible, which the team definitely deserves. "

Pascal Wehrlein, Porsche works driver (# 99):“The race actually started well. My pace was good. I was in attack mode when Oliver (Rowland) drove into my car and damaged my left rear tire. As a result, I had to pit and almost lost a lap. I couldn't do anything from this position. It's a shame, but I have to tick that off now. Tomorrow, in the last race of the season, I'll attack again. ”

This is how it goes on
Race 15 in Berlin will take place on Sunday, August 15th. Sat.1 will broadcast live from 3 p.m. CEST. A live stream can be seen on ran.de.
