Team Joos Sports Car Technology all set for first ADAC GT Masters season

Racing team to field one Porsche 911 GT3 R. Marco Holzer and Johannes Stengel behind the wheel. Swabians made guest starts in 2020. The field in the ADAC GT Masters has been bolstered by the addition of another Porsche 911 GT3 R: Team Joos Sports Car Technology is putting its faith in last year's championship-winning car, as it embarks on its first season in the German GT Championship. The team from Balingen has acquired the services of experienced GT driver Marco Holzer (32/Höchst) and rookie Johannes Stengel (25/Stadtlohn) behind the wheel. The new ADAC GT Masters season kicks off from 14th to 16th May in Oschersleben. New TV partner NITRO is broadcasting all the races live and in full.

Team Joos Sports Car Technology took to the grid for the races at the Nürburgring and in Hockenheim in 2020, in order to gain experience as a guest starter in the ADAC GT Masters. Twelfth place was the result on both occasions. The team is now set to contest all 14 of the season's races for the first time.

"We can hardly wait for our first full season in the ADAC GT Masters," says team principal Michael Joos. "We saw on our guest starts just how fiercely-competitive the series is. We are looking forward to this challenge. We have a very promising pair of drivers in Marco and Johannes. We want to score as many points as possible and provide a few highlights here and there." In Marco Holzer, the team has experienced GT driver in its ranks for the debut season. The 32-year-old is familiar with the Porsche 911 GT3 R from various racing series.

The Bavarian raced in the ADAC GT Masters in 2016, 2019 and 2020. "This will be my first full season in the ADAC GT Masters. I am really looking forward to driving in what is perhaps the strongest GT3 series. I know the Joos team from last season's guest start in Hockenheim. Johannes is a young and fast team-mate, who I will be happy to help with my experience. We already chat regularly. We want to improve over the course of the season and to get good results." For his partner Johannes Stengel, GT3 racing is new territory. He recently started in a Cup Porsche on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife and claimed a class victory in the ADAC Total 24h Race. His only GT3 race to date came at the start of the year in an Audi R8 LMS in Dubai.

"Switching to the ADAC GT Masters is an unbelievable step for me," says the student from the Münsterland region, who is eligible to score points in the Pirelli Junior competition. "I did a bit of testing in the Porsche 911 GT3 R last year, so I know how it feels. It is great to be building something new in such a friendly atmosphere with the Joos team. In Marco, I have a super team-mate, from whom I can definitely learn a lot. Although I am jumping in at the deep end a little, I could not imagine a better environment, in which to step up to the ADAC GT Masters."
