With a little luck, victory would have been possible

The knot burst in the last race of the season: The Porsche 911 RSR from Proton Competition with starting number 93 clinched its first podium finish in the European Le Mans Series at the Autódromo Internacional de Algarve. Richard Lietz (Austria), Michael Fassbender (Ireland) and Felipe Fernandez Laser (Germany) finished second in the GTE class in the four-hour race on the Formula 1 track in southern Portugal after a strong performance. Christian Ried (Schönebürg), Gianmaria Bruni (Italy) and Cooper MacNeil (USA) rounded off the strong team performance of the team from Ummendorf in Swabia with fifth place.

Quotes after the race
Michael Ried, team
owner and technical director: “The drivers of our number 93 have long deserved to be on the podium. They finally made it in the last race of the season. You drove a strong race. With a little luck, victory would have been possible. But we are also so very satisfied with this end of the season. That was a strong team effort. ”

Christian Ried (Porsche 911 RSR # 77):“ Congratulations to our team-mates from 93 on their first podium. That was well deserved. We were also doing very well and at times on the verge of saying goodbye to the winter break with a top result. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough in the end. ”

Richard Lietz (Porsche 911 RSR # 93): “It finally worked. We've been close to our first podium many times this season, but something was always missing in the end. However, we have never been discouraged and with the support of the Proton boys we have now rewarded ourselves for it. It's a shame that it was the last race of the season. ”

Michael Fassbender (Porsche 911 RSR # 93):“ My first podium with the Porsche 911 RSR. I'm happy and relieved that we managed to do that against the tough competition this season. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this - the team, Porsche and of course my teammates, who tirelessly supported me on our common journey. "

Felipe Fernandez Laser (Porsche 911 RSR # 93): “That was the end of the season as we wanted it to be. Not much was missing and we could even have been happy about our first victory. ”

Cooper MacNeil (Porsche 911 RSR # 77):“ My first season with Proton Competition and the Porsche 911 RSR in the European Le Mans Series was a nice one interesting experience. I got to know a lot of new racetracks. Thanks to the team and Porsche for the great support. ”

Gianmaria Bruni (Porsche 911 RSR # 77):“ Having a car on the podium is always a good result for a team. In the first race of the season it was us, in the last our colleagues from the 93rd. We grant them this success with all our hearts. "
