Porsche Cup C6 Bank ends sprint and endurance seasons in Interlagos
The Porsche Cup C6 Bank ended its sprint and endurance seasons this week at the José Carlos Pace Race Track in Interlagos, São Paulo. After the sprint races were delayed due to torrential rain during the São Paulo Formula 1 GP, the category held the remaining two races last Wednesday. On Saturday, it was time for the long-distance races championship to ended with a 500 km race.
In the sprint, Marçal Müller was the champion in the Carrera Cup, with Miguel Mariotti taking the title in the Sprint Challenge. The Carrera Sport class was won by Peter Ferter. The Carrera Rookie class was won by Israel Salmen. In the Challenge Sport class, the title went to Celio Brasil, while in the Challenge Rookie class, Caio Chaves arrived at Interlagos as the champion in advance.
In the Porsche C6 Bank Endurance Challenge, the Carrera Cup saw the first title for Rubens Barrichello, who teamed up with Werner Neugebauer in the #8 car. In the Challenge, the title went to Sadak Leite and Fábio Carbone. In the Carrera Sport class, the victory went to Rouman Ziemkiewicz and Nelson Piquet Jr, while in the Carrera Rookie class, Bruno Campos and Nicolas Costa won. The 2024 season finale of the Porsche Cup C6 Bank sprint racing championship debuted on the brand-new asphalt of the Interlagos Circuit. Once again, the most-produced race cars in the world served as a support event for the São Paulo Formula 1 Grand Prix. Due to heavy rain, Formula One Management (FOM) revised Sunday’s schedule at Interlagos, postponing the Porsche Cup C6 Bank races.
With the track freshly repaved for F1, the Porsche Cup cars broke in the new surface, and it quickly showed its quality as the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992 set a new category record in São Paulo’s capital. Werner Neugebauer became the first driver in the 20-year history of the Porsche Cup to clock laps in the 1:33 range at Interlagos. With a time of 1:33.926, the Brazilian driver holds the fastest lap in the category’s history at Brazil’s premier motorsport venue.
In Carrera Cup race 1, Christian Hahn took the lead after an intense opening lap. Nine-time champion Miguel Paludo had an excellent start but couldn’t hold off the fast #26 car of Hahn. In the subcategories, Raijan Mascarello won the Sport class, and Israel Salmen took the victory in the rookie class. Among the title contenders, who entered the season finale tied, Marçal Muller had the upper hand by finishing second in the race ahead of Paludo, giving him the advantage going into the season’s final race.
In the Sprint Challenge, the title rivals shared the front row. Miguel Mariotti and Antonella Bassani had a thrilling race in São Paulo, even going wheel-to-wheel through the Senna S. Mariotti came out on top and takes the advantage into the championship-deciding race. Leonardo Herrmann won in the Sport class, while already-crowned Rookie champion Caio Chaves added another victory to his tally.
On Wednesday, November 13, the final day of the Porsche Cup C6 Bank sprint championship, the pole-sitters converted their advantage of starting in front into victories, setting the fastest laps of the race in the process. But despite the Grand Slams from Werner Neugebauer and Antonella Bassani, the ones who left Interlagos happiest were the new 2024 champions, Marçal Muller in the Carrera Cup and Miguel Mariotti in the Challenge.

The Carrera Sport class saw a victory for Marcos Regadas and the title for Peter Ferter. The Carrera Rookie class saw the race and the championship won by Israel Salmen. The Challenge Sport title had to wait for the checkered flag. On the first lap, an accident ended up taking Sebá Malucelli out of the race, and two laps later, Celio Brasil. The two were competing for the second place championship, whose title at the end of the race went to Brasil.
On Saturday, November 16, the final stage of the Porsche C6 Bank Endurance Challenge was full of drama, but in the end, Rubens Barrichello and Werner Neugebauer celebrated the 2024 Endurance Challenge title. The race was won by car #1, driven by Gui Salas and Alceu Feldmann, who achieved the record for the most successful long-distance events with the most produced racing cars on the planet.
In a four-hour race with many twists and turns, with interventions by the safety car, flat tires and the constant threat of rain, the one who celebrated the overall title, which combines the points from the sprint and endurance championships, was Marçal Muller, driver of car #544.
Second place in the race went to car #7, driven by Miguel Paludo and Alan Hellmeister. The podium was completed by the crews of #3 (Franco Giaffone and Cesar Ramos), #88 (Pedro Boesel and Ricardinho Mauricio) and #70 (Lucas Salles and Rafa Suzuki).
The Feldmann family's celebration was completed with the conclusion of the Challenge class and the victory of #95, driven by Alceu Feldmann Neto and Gabriel Casagrande.
