Ayhancan Güven celebrates his third win of the season in Monza

Third victory and thus still in the title race of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany: Ayhancan Güven (Turkey / Phoenix Racing) won the eleventh round of the one-make cup on Saturday at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Italy. “A great race! Unfortunately, my start was not ideal, but things went really well after that. Laurin Heinrich was in the lead for a long time, but I put pressure on the last lap and knew that I would have to wait patiently for a mistake. That paid off, ”said the Porsche Junior. The two Germans Laurin Heinrich (Van Berghe Huber Racing) and Leon Köhler (Nebulus Racing by Huber) completed the podium in the race at the International GT Open.

With overcast skies and temperatures of 23 degrees Celsius, Larry ten Voorde (Netherlands / Team GP Elite) started the race from pole position in his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Heinrich got off to a better start, however: The youngster from the talent pool program of the one-make cup pulled past the Dutchman in his 510 hp cup vehicle and took the lead before the first corner. Heinrich controls the racing at the top until the final phase. Then Güven used one of the Huber drivers' brakes, took the lead and crossed the finish line as the winner one lap later. “At the beginning I was really fast and was able to develop a comfortable lead.

The duel for third place was also a spectacle. Ten Voorde defended himself passionately against Köhler for much of the race. On the penultimate lap, Köhler found the crucial gap and overtook the current championship leader. “That was a really exciting duel. In the slipstream on the long straights I was able to get close to Larry ten Voorde, but it is difficult to overtake in the tight chicanes. So I'm happy that it worked out shortly before the end, ”said Köhler. Behind the fourth-placed Voorde came Christopher Zöchling (Austria / Fach Auto Tech) and the two rookies Loek Hartog (Netherlands / Black Falcon Team Textar) and Bastian Buus (Denmark / Allied-Racing). Rudy van Buren (Netherlands / CarTech Motorsport by Nigrin) completed the top eight.

After eleven of a total of 16 championship races, the leader in the overall standings is still Larry ten Voorde. The GP elite driver leads with 215 points ahead of Güven (192 points). Heinrich follows in third with 184 points. The twelfth race of the season starts on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. local time and will be shown live on Sport1 + as well as in the live stream on the YouTube and Facebook channels of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany.
