Kick-off for the 36th season of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland
With 32 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars, the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland will contest the first two races of the year at the Autodromo Imola.
A full house at the start: The Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland starts the new season in Imola with a maximum of 32 Porsche 911 GT3 Cups. On the Formula 1 circuit in Emilia-Romagna, the one-make cup will hold two races as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) support programme. A total of 16 ranked races over eight weekends in five countries are on the programme this season.
The 28 registered participants will be joined by four guest drivers at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari. Together, they represent twelve nations, including Australia, Brazil, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. Seven rookies will fight for points in Imola's own classification of the Cup newcomers. The ProAm squad is represented by six gentleman drivers.
Among the newcomers to the grid is Emely de Heus from the ID Racing team. This means that in the 36th season of the German one-make cup, a female driver will once again take the wheel of one of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. The Dutchwoman most recently competed in the F1 Academy single-seater racing series. But I'm looking forward to my premiere," the 22-year-old looks ahead.
Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti enters the one-make cup with title ambitions. The Frenchman competes for the Schumacher CLRT team, which is expanding into the German Carrera Cup as the reigning team champion of the international Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. The second Porsche Junior is Theo Oeverhaus. The Osnabrück native drives for Bonk Motorsport and is also one of the favorites at the season opener. "I'm really looking forward to two races on one of my favourite tracks," emphasises Oeverhaus, who secured pole position in Imola exactly one year ago.
Synthetic fuel for the first time
With the approach of reducing CO₂ emissions in motorsport, the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland will use the synthetic fuel "DTM Pro Climate" for all eight race weekends in the 2025 season, which its partner ADAC is also using for the first time for its DTM, ADAC GT Masters and GT4 Germany series.
"Finally it starts again. The Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland can once again boast a great starting field with a good mix of experienced drivers and rookies in the 2025 season. The selection of race tracks will also make for a very exciting competition. I am particularly proud that our Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will now run on synthetic fuel," comments Thorsten Rückert, Project Manager of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland.
The circuit: Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, Imola
The racetrack in Emilia-Romagna, which opened in 1953, is one of the traditional circuits of Formula 1. It was named after the Ferrari founder and his son. The 4.909-kilometre circuit on the outskirts of Imola hugs the natural course of the hilly landscape with a succession of climbs and descents. Last season, Harry King (Allied-Racing) won both Carrera Cup races at the Autodromo. In 2025, the Briton will no longer be on the grid, as will reigning champion Larry ten Voorde from the Netherlands.
