DB Motorsport makes its ADAC GT Masters debut at the Red Bull Ring
At the ADAC GT Masters at the Red Bull Ring, DB Motorsport makes its debut in the traditional GT3 series. Gerhard Tweraser and Hermann Speck drive the Porsche 911 GT3 R on the GP circuit in Styria.
On the last weekend in September, the ADAC GT Masters will be held at the Red Bull Ring in Styria. At the Austrian round of the traditional GT3 series, DB Motorsport will make its debut in the racing series. The team from Uehlfeld in Franconia will compete on the Austrian Grand Prix circuit with a Porsche 911 GT3 R (generation 991.2) as part of the DTM.
The Porsche in the eye-catching Speck pump design is driven by experienced GT3 driver Gerhard Tweraser – who has experience in the ADAC GT Masters, the GT World Challenge Europe and the International GT Open, among others – and regular driver Hermann Speck. Speck won the Endurance title in the Austrian P9 Challenge in each of the years 2017 – 2024. The duo will compete in the Pro-Am class and thus have time advantages over the competition in the Silver Cup during the mandatory pit stops.
"Our guest start in the ADAC GT Masters actually came about very spontaneously," laughs team owner Daniel Badum. "In the races of the P9 Challenge at the beginning of the season at the Red Bull Ring, Hermann showed a very strong performance and drove very competitive lap times. Gerhard then gave him the idea that we could compete together in the ADAC GT Masters. And so one thing led to another and we're competing in the ADAC GT Masters for the first time at the Red Bull Ring."
Daniel Badum's racing team was able to gain a lot of experience with the Porsche 911 GT3 R in various racing series. The Porsche experts from Middle Franconia also compete with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in racing series such as the Porsche Sports Cup Deutschland. With the start in the ADAC GT Masters at the Red Bull Ring, the team and regular driver Hermann Speck are now fulfilling a dream!
"For us, the race weekend at the Red Bull Ring will be a pure test weekend for the time being. We have to find our way around the top-class starting field and get used to the conditions. But if we and Hermann like it in the racing series and we can compete in the Pro-Am class in terms of times, we don't rule out the possibility of competing more often in the future. But for now, we're looking forward to our debut!" concludes Badum.
At the Red Bull Ring, the ADAC GT Masters will contest a one-hour race with a driver change on 28th and 29th September, with a 20-minute qualifying session taking place in the early morning of each of the two race days. The races will be broadcast live on Sport1 on German free TV and streamed worldwide on YouTube. On Thursday and Friday, the teams will have extensive test and practice sessions at their disposal to get used to the circuit in Spielberg.
