Enzo Elias wins for the fourth time this year and draws in the lead with Marçal Müller

The return of the Porsche Cup C6 Bank Mastercard to Goiânia showed all the attributes that make the category the largest single-brand event in Latin American motorsport. There were bold maneuvers left, spectacular starts, disputes for positions in all areas of the Carrera Cup and Sprint Challenge platoons – and also some accidents that once again illustrated the safety of the most produced race cars in the world.

At the end of Sunday, the one who came out smiling wider was the Brasiliense Enzo Elias and the Maranhão based in Goiânia Daniel Corrêa. They won, respectively, by the Carrera Cup and Sprint Challenge.

Enzo set up his fourth win of the year with a formidable start and controlled the race from there. He took the lead in the points, tying Marçal Müller on 162 points (but with more wins). Only the competitor of the Porsche #73 won more than once in the season that marks the debut of the new cars of the generation '992' to the grid of the Carrera Cup.

Corrêa wrote his name in the list of Sprint Challenge winners for the first time this year, breaking a seven-year fast. His last victory had been won in 2015, also on the Goian track.

Two other competitors left Goiânia also celebrating a lot, as they have both hands in the titles of their subchampionships: Guilherme Bottura and Gustavo Zanon.

The #117 rider was 85 points in the Sprint Challenge Sport class and can no longer be achieved, even if he zeroed both in São Paulo. He just can't carry black flags.

The competitor of car #33 has twice been on the podium in the Sprint Challenge Rookie class and achieved a score that cannot be withdrawn by his competitors in the F1 preliminary at Interlagos – unless Zanon receives black flags, which are not eligible for disposal according to regulations.

The Porsche Cup C6 Bank Mastercard delegation remains in Goiânia. After the 5,000 spectators who were at the racetrack on Sunday, the expectation is even more expressive audience next Sunday, for the second stage of the Endurance Series.

Race two

With a formidable start in Goiânia, Miguel Paludo won the opening race of the Porsche Cup C6 Bank Mastercard. It was the first victory of the heptachampion of the Carrera Cup with the new cars of the generation 992, which debuted in April just on the track of the capital of Goiás.

The gaucho controlled well the harassment of Enzo Elias, who pressed hard in the first half of the race, but ended up managing the second position that was favorable to him in the fight for the championship. The Brasiliense follows runner-up in the scoring, but reduced from 20 to 12 goals the disadvantage to Marçal Müller.

In the Sprint Challenge there was also an unprecedented winner – not only in the season, but in the history of the most produced racing car category in the world. Josimar Junior took the lead from pole position, was not complicated when competitors burned the start, returned to first place and also triumphed in the Sport class.

The race was marked by the early end, after contact of car #199 with the tire barrier in the exhaust area of turn 2 damaged the guard rail.

In the points, Raijan Mascarello continues in the lead, extending from 14 to 19 points his margin over Cristian Mohr.

Race One

Paludo was the highlight of the start jumping from fifth to the lead inside, also favored by the fact that Rodrigo Mello entered the box and left vacant the third position on the grid. Pole Werner Neugebauer was in the middle of the 3-wide and bypassed the first corner in second, but was soon overtaken by Enzo Elias in the 3rd corner. Lucas Salles also made a nice jump, from seventh to fourth.

At the end of the first lap the top5 had Paludo, Enzo, Werner, Salles and Pedro Aguiar. In the second pass, Aguiar overcame Salles, who held the lead in the Sport class with fifth place. In 11th place, Nelson Monteiro led in Rookie and soon ended up favored also by contact between Leo Sanchez and Lineu Pires, who took from the race the car #888, championship leader in the class.

On the ninth lap, in dispute before the zero turn, Rouman Ziemkiewicz and Monteiro made contact. The safety car was immediately activated to rescue the cars. Oblivious to the confusion, Edu Guedes took the lead in the Rookie class, with 13th place overall.

The restart came on lap 11, with Enzo determined to challenge Paludo for first place. But the name of the restart was Alceu Feldmann, jumping from sixth to fourth place when overtaking Salles and Aguiar. Unfortunately however car #1 was forced to collect three laps from the flag.

Renan Pizii was also very combative in the second half of the race, advancing to fifth place with authority.

On the final lap, Müller took three positions, jumping from ninth to sixth. It was his first race off the podium in 2022.

Franco Giaffone attacked Salles on the final lap and the cars had contact. The #70 rode and #3 won in Sport with eighth place overall. Eduardo Menossi and Georgios Frangulis came soon after. In 11th place, Edu Guedes won in Rookie, with Bruno Campos in second and João Barbosa in third

Enzo Elias

"It was difficult. After the first interlagos race it was very difficult to imagine this scenario. But from the second race I won, our worst result was P2. We knew we had speed and faced problems in qualifying, which complicated our races 1 and 2. Then we grew a lot and we are motivated to seek this title in Interlagos. I thank the team and everyone who cheered and accompanied. I'll do my best in São Paulo"

Daniel Correa

"It couldn't happen in a better place. Hitting the beam, the whole year walking well. I'm very happy now is to celebrate with the people here in Goiânia, here at home"

Werner Neugebauer

"It was a good result, I did a third and a second place and it would be great if I was in the championship race. Enzo was at a very strong pace and I would have to take big risks to try to overcome it, so I stayed behind him and it was a good result."

Franco Giaffone

"I'm very happy, I've been improving in qualifying and it's helped a lot in the races. I'm very pleased because I walked in the front row, I was on the line and I saw Enzo and that's really cool."

Lineu Pires

"Yesterday Nelson and I were in the loss and today I managed to put two points ahead of him in this race. Now let's go to the final stage to decide the championship, I'm very happy."

Nelson Monteiro

"Yesterday was a pity to touch with a car of another category, if you had taken advantage would be in a more comfortable situation in the championship. Today I managed to escape the tangles, came fast, but unfortunately could not get to lineu. Anyway I'm happy with the podium and second place."

Michael Mariotti"My first year in the Porsche Cup. We started the year here and came back now, after a lot of good races. We've been winning positions for positions and we've won four trophies here. A fantastic weekend"

Gustavo Zanon

"Debut year. We never imagined it would be possible. It's been a tough year, a lot of work. I thank my coach Rafa Martins for the work, which was key. I'm happy to secure this title here and celebrate with the family.

William Bottura

"I'm really happy to get this news of the points. We weren't even thinking about it, but it's great to be able to run the F1 stage free of having to do the work and think about where to go. Mission of the year accomplished: nothing better"

Marcelo Tomasoni

"Another second place, I dropped from P2 in both and got two second positions. It gave a little pity, our pace was very good and yesterday's safety ended our race and today finish early too. Happy for the recovery from a very strong accident I had in the Sertões and only released me to run on Tuesday. Too happy and these results are a prize for recovery."

Caio Castro

"We were adjusting the car, I took a risk at times that i shouldn't have been aiming for the podium. Today was very good, I managed to get on the podium, but our plan was another, the strategy was not to score because of the discards. For the first time I'm going to the podium and I'm not that happy."

Junior Dinardi

"Saturday wasn't very good, but today was wonderful! I'm very happy. I took a touch on the last lap, brought the car to the flag all left, but I received the checkerboard and the victory."
