Harry King (Revs Motorsport) overall champion in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux 2022
Hockenheim, October 9. Harry King concluded his season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux 2022 very nicely. The 21-year-old won both races on the German circuit and is thus certain of the first place in the final standings, ahead of the Belgians Glenn van Parijs (NGT Racing) and Ghislain Cordeel (GP Elite). The last victories in Pro-Am and Am in both races were for Sören Spreng (Black Falcon) and DUWO Racing driver Giovanni Scamardi. The champions in both categories are none other than Jan Lauryssen (Q1 TrackRacing) in Pro-Am and Sébastien Lajoux (DUWO Racing) in Am. Lucas van Eijndhoven (JW Raceservice) is the new Rookie champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux. Now we get ready for 2023, a new edition of the fastest cup championship the Benelux and it promises to be even more exciting than this already incredible year.
"Of course I'm very happy," said Harry King after the last race of the season in Hockenheim. “Glenn was not far off and the pressure continued to the end. I am therefore very happy that the title has been won!”
For Harry King, former champion in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, it is therefore the second title in a Porsche competition "and his name is really an added value for our beautiful track record", says Series Manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, Olivier Aerts . “We have seen a very good competition this season, with struggles to the last meter of the championship on many fronts. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all drivers, teams, employees and partners for a fantastic championship that has certainly lived up to expectations for me. I can already assure everyone that we are working hard on the 2023 season and that season promises to be very nice again.”
Fight on all fronts
In Hockenheim the battle on the track was one between the regulars and the guest drivers, with the brothers Morris and Flynt Schuring in the colors of Huber Racing, among others, leaving a strong impression. Morris Schuring took second place twice, between the protagonists Harry King and Glenn van Parijs. Flynt then rode to fourth and fifth overall, while Robin Knutsson (Westcoast Racing) did the opposite.
In the Pro-Am class, Sören Spreng (Black Falcon) took it twice. Didier Glorieux (Speedlover) and Tom Boonen (#Team PGZ by Redant Racing) took the podium on Saturday, while Tom Boonen did even better on Sunday. Jan Lauryssen had of course been sure of his title in the class since Barcelona.
Giovanni Scamardi showed that he loves the Porsche competition, with two victories in the Am class, each ahead of Joan Vinyes in the colors of Baporo Motorsport and champion Sébastien Lajoux on behalf of DUWO Racing.
Last but least, Lucas van Eijndhoven took the lead in the Rookie Championship in the last weekend with a double victory, ahead of Rik Koen (Revs Motorsport), and also the title.
