High-speed blast next up for Will Aspin in Porsche Carrera Cup GB

Young racer Will Aspin is set to make his return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this weekend (June 2-4) as the series heads to the UK’s fastest circuit, Thruxton, for rounds five and six of the season.

The teenager from Florence, has had a mixed start to the 2023 campaign, though a pair of fourth place Pro-Am finishes at Brands Hatch last time out gives the youngster hope that his fortunes will turn.

Will was set to make his Porsche Supercup debut last weekend, lining up an entry in the highest level of the marque’s one-make racing series in a stunning art-car livery celebrating his home city, but the cancellation of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix scuppered his plans.

Will and his Team Parker Racing colleagues will have two 50-minute practice sessions at Thruxton on Friday, June 2nd, before qualifying the following afternoon at 14:15. The first of two 22 lap races is scheduled to get underway at 10:50 on Sunday, June 4th, with the second contest at 15:15, which will be shown live on ITV4 in the United Kingdom.

“Thruxton is a good challenge and hopefully I will be one of the drivers that will be able to get on it as quickly as possible. It really showed at Brands Hatch that I was able to get on it within the first two laps in qualifying and put it in a time which was within two or three tenths of my teammate Adam [Smalley], who's the championship leader, so I know I can do it.

“If we’re honest, we've been underperforming for the first two rounds and that means we're not in the place we should be, so I'm looking forward to showing where we are and what we can achieve. Thruxton was a tough round last year, so this time we'll be working to finish the weekend on a high.”
