Porsche Juniors Ghiretti and Oeverhaus with extensive racing program
Porsche Juniors Alessandro Ghiretti and Theo Oeverhaus are looking forward to an exciting season: The two young drivers, sponsored by Porsche Motorsport, will compete in both the international Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and the eight race weekends of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland in 2025. In total, they each have 24 starts on the schedule in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will again be held in 2025 as part of the supporting program of eight European Formula 1 races. As the top championship among the global Porsche one-make cup series, the Supercup traditionally serves as a training platform for the juniors. Four of the 16 races of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland are spread over two event weekends with the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), before the German one-make cup makes six appearances together with the DTM. In total, the Porsche Juniors will compete on twelve different tracks in eight European countries.
Both have already successfully completed parts of their season openers. Alessandro Ghiretti was allowed to participate as a guest driver in the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia prior to the Formula 1 race in Melbourne. The Frenchman clinched one race win and two top-7 finishes with the EMA Motorsport team. Theo Oeverhaus competed in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe with Proton Huber Competition. In Barcelona, the German achieved one win and a second place. As further preparation, Oeverhaus will also contest the first round of the Porsche Carrera Cup France with the Martinet by Alméras team on the Spanish Grand Prix circuit.
After two Carrera Cup titles, Ghiretti aims for further success
Alessandro Ghiretti will drive in both series for the French team Schumacher CLRT. The 23-year-old won the Porsche Carrera Cup France with the team of racing professional Côme Ledogar in the 2024 season. At the same time, the Frenchman also won the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia with Team Jebsen. Ghiretti finished fifth in the final Supercup drivers' standings. In 2025, he will begin his second year in the Porsche Junior program.
"In my second season as a Porsche Junior, I want to deliver great results and once again fight for victories and titles," said Ghiretti. "Together with Schumacher CLRT, I'm competing in a double program this year with the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland, which I'm really happy about. I know the team well; we won the Porsche Carrera Cup France in 2024. Now we can take on a new challenge. Together with the team, I'm ready for this challenge."
The new Porsche junior also sets ambitious goals
Theo Oeverhaus is already the 32nd Porsche Junior in the history of this development program. In terms of his team, he'll be pursuing two different careers in 2025: The 20-year-old from Osnabrück will compete in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup with Proton Huber Competition, and in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland, he will again contest it for Bonk Motorsport – as in the two previous years. In the German series, he won the rookie title in 2023 as the best newcomer. He finished third in his second season in the fiercely competitive one-make cup. At the same time, his debut year in the Supercup led him to eleventh place in the championship and fourth in the rookie standings.
"In my first season as a Porsche Junior, I want to finish at least third in both the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland – even though the ultimate goal is, of course, the title," Oeverhaus says, setting ambitious goals. "I'm incredibly happy to be competing in the season as a Porsche Junior and I'm looking forward to spending time with our driver coach Sascha Maassen, as well as the general support from Porsche, both off the track and beyond. I hope this will help me get even more out of myself."
Successful Porsche Junior Support Model
The Junior Program is one of the central components of the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer's motorsport pyramid. Since 1997, Porsche Motorsport has been supporting highly talented young drivers and currently guides them to the global elite with a support package of up to €225,000 each. Comprehensive coaching and training in the areas of driving dynamics, mental development, nutrition, fitness, and media relations round out the program.
With great success, as recent examples demonstrate: Julien Andlauer, Porsche Junior of the years 2018 and 2019, joined the factory driver squad at the start of the current season. The Frenchman will drive a Porsche 963 in the top class of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2025. Andlauer's teammates Michael Christensen from Denmark (2012-2013), Mathieu Jaminet from France (2016), and the Australian Matt Campbell (2017) also come from the Porsche sponsorship program. Laurin Heinrich – Porsche Junior of the Year 2022 – won the GTD Pro title in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship last season. The German's race car: the 911 GT3 R, nicknamed "Rexy," from AO Racing.
In total, the Porsche Juniors have achieved ten overall victories and over 50 class wins at the 24-hour races in Le Mans and Daytona, as well as at the 12-hour classic in Sebring. In addition, they have 17 first places in the overall standings of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and 20 titles in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS).
