Historic success at Hockenheim: AVIA W&S Motorsport is four-time champion in ADAC GT4 Germany 2024

AVIA W&S Motorsport made history at the ADAC GT4 Germany season finale in Hockenheim. The team of Patrick Wagner and Daniel Schellhaas became champions in all four classes and achieved something that no one has ever accomplished before. Finn Zulauf and Josef Knopp in the AVIA racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport #31 became champions in the drivers' classification and celebrated the greatest success of their still young career. The two 20-year-olds also won the Junior classification and took the championship title there as well. In the team classification, AVIA W&S Motorsport took first place and was able to defend its title from the previous year. Max Kronberg was crowned the new champion in the Trophy classification, while his team-mate Tano Neumann finished second.

For the racing team from Ofterdingen, the weekend began with second and third place overall in the first race by Finn Zulauf and Josef Knopp (#31) and Tommi Gore and Senna Summerbell (#32), who celebrated their first podium in the fiercely contested series. Max Kronberg also took a class win in the Trophy ahead of Tano Neumann in second place. Kronberg finished fifth overall together with his team-mate Hendrik Still in the #30, while Zulauf/Knopp came second in the Juniors ahead of Gore/Summerbell in third.

In the final race on Sunday, Alon Gabbay and Tano Neumann (#9) started from second place and were in the lead for a while. After a strong pace, they crossed the finish line in third place and also celebrated their first overall podium in the ADAC GT4 Germany. Neumann also won the Trophy classification. Gore/Summerbell (#32) finished a strong fifth, Kronberg/Still twelfth. Zulauf/Knopp drove a smart race to fourth place and did not let the championship title slip from their grasp after taking the lead of the standings the day before.

Quotes after the race

Daniel Schellhaas, Team Principal AVIA W&S Motorsport: “I am incredibly proud of the team and the drivers and what we have achieved. No other team has ever managed to win four out of four championships in the ADAC GT4 Germany. Many thanks to everyone for their tireless commitment and great work! This would not have been possible without you.“

Finn Zulauf, Champion and Driver #31: “I still can't believe we've done it and become champions. I can't thank the team enough for their mega and flawless work throughout the season. Josef also did a mega job over the year and we are just happy that it was finally enough for the title. I hope Uli was able to enjoy it from up there.”

Josef Knopp, Champion and Driver #31: “It's just incredible. I think we deserve to be champions because we worked very hard throughout the season and were consistent. The title is the result of these efforts. It will take me some time to realise that we are champions. Many thanks to the team for their support and an incredible season!”

Tano Neumann, Driver #9: “That was the most successful year in my motorsport career. For that I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved, especially to the winning team winning team W&S Motorsport, where I have found a second family. Thank you also to my team-mate Alon Gabbay and our mentor and coach Marvin Dienst. I would also like to congratulate our champions Finn Zulauf and Joseph Knopp congratulations on winning the championship!’

Alon Gabbay, Driver #9: “It was my best weekend so far! P8 in race 1 with 10 overtaking manoeuvres, P2 in qualifying, the lead in my stint in race 1 and finally a place on the podium! Great work by the team, my team-mate Tano and my coach Marvin. Congratulations to my team-mates Finn and Josef for winning the championship and their performances. I am happy to be part of this team and am looking forward to next season!”

Max Kronberg, Driver #30: “It was a very good season for Hendrik and me and we celebrated many podium finishes. I had some top 10 results in qualifying and my highlight was third place in qualifying at the Norisring. It also shows what an incredibly great job the team is doing with the preparation of the cars and the set-up. I am happy to have won the Trophy classification for the third year. Unfortunately, we just missed out on third place in the overall standings, which is a big disappointment and hurts a little. But overall, our season was very successful. Thank you very much for that!”

Tommi Gore, Driver #32: “It was another great weekend for us with W&S Motorsport. We are so happy to finish the year with a podium and a place in the top five. We have shown we have the pace against some of the best competition and this would not have been possible without this amazing team around us as well as our sponsors and supporters from Jamaica, and now Europe. Thanks to the organisers for a great championship, I hope we can come back soon!”
