Strong newcomer from Sweden already starts at Lausitzring races. Joel Eriksson shares the cockpit of a Porsche 911 GT3 R with Dylan Pereira. Comeback in the ADAC GT Masters for Eriksson a welcome new challenge.
A prominent newcomer to the Küs Team Bernhard one and a half weeks before the next two ADAC GT Masters races at the Lausitzring (September 10th - 12th): The racing team of the two-time Le Mans winner and FIA endurance world champion Timo Bernhard is responsible for the rest of the ADAC GT Masters season 2021 Joel Eriksson (23). The Swede shares one of the two Porsche 911 GT3 Rs from the Bruchmühlbach-Miesau racing team with Dylan Pereira (24 / Luxembourg). The German GT Championship is not new territory for Eriksson: in 2020 he competed in a Schubert BMW in the ADAC GT Masters.
“I'm thrilled to be back in the GT car. All the more so because I can drive in such a top-class championship as the ADAC GT Masters and for such a passionate and successful team as the KÜS Team Bernhard, ”says Joel Eriksson. "I can hardly wait for the races at the Lausitzring," he emphasizes. Most recently, the Swede, Vice European Champion in Formula 3 in 2017, was in action for Dragon Penske in the Formula E World Championship.
Team boss Timo Bernhard explains: “I am glad that we were able to sign an absolutely top-class player in Joel Eriksson. We met three years ago at the Race of Champions, where he competed with Team Sweden. We got along well back then, were always in contact and were close to working together. I am delighted that a driver I really appreciate is now sitting in one of my cars. ”The second Porsche 911 GT3 R from Küs Team Bernhard is being driven in the ADAC GT Masters by defending champion Christian Engelhart (34 / Starnberg) and Porsche works driver Thomas Preining (23 / A).
