Marçal Müller and Enzo Elias win the second race of the Porsche C6 Bank Endurance Challenge in 2024
The Porsche C6 Bank Endurance Challenge held the second stage of the 2024 season, the most international in the category, this Sunday at the modern Termas de Río Hondo Circuit in Argentina, which is 4,806 meters long and 14 turns. The race had 37 cars registered, with 74 drivers being challenged by the intense heat in the northwest of the country. With 35°C ambient temperature and over 54°C on the asphalt, the dry weather took its toll on drivers and cars.
Second on the starting grid, the #544 car of Marçal Müller and Enzo Elias dominated the race from the second stint onwards. Enzo made a great overtaking move on Rubens Barrichello, who was paired with Werner Neugebauer in the #8 Porsche, and had no further problems. Not even a late safety car deployment, caused by a competitor's spin, and a restart with only one lap to go, threatened the victory.
Winners of the first race in Estoril, Portugal, Rubens Barrichello and Werner Neugebauer took the points for their victory in the first stage of the race in Argentina. This means they are strictly tied in the championship with Marçal Müller and Enzo Elias before the final race, which will be held at the traditional Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Interlagos, São Paulo, on November 16. It will be the longest race on the Porsche C6 Bank Endurance Challenge calendar, with 500 kilometers long.
In the Carrera Sport subcategory, the victory went to the duo Francisco Horta/William Freire in car #77, who finished fifth overall. In Carrera Rookie, Caio Collet and Eduardo Menossi finished in front in the Porsche #85 - in 11th place in the race standings.
In the Challenge class, a dominant victory went to the duo formed by Gabriel Casagrande and Alceu Feldmann Neto in car #83. They started in pole position, briefly lost the lead in the first stint, but regained first place as soon as Casagrande got in the car. They then managed to hold on to the lead to win at Termas de Río Hondo. Sadak Leite and Fabio Carbone, in car #66, finished the race in second place.
Casagrande and Feldmann Neto were entered in the Challenge Rookie subcategory. As a result, they achieved top marks in the race overall, in Challenge Sport and in Rookie.
