MRS expands Porsche engagement

MRS team announces the motorsport program for 2021, now that the last decision for the ADAC GT Masters has been made. As usual with MRS, the program is very extensive and extends to the North American continent from this year on. A major innovation to the recent years is, that the team from the Swabian Lonsee is now relying on the Porsche brand for all projects.

ADAC GT Masters

The team from Lonsee will start the eleventh year in the ADAC GT Masters with a Porsche 991.2 GT3R. After many interesting and experimental years with McLaren, Nissan and BMW, the team is now resorting to a Porsche GT3. With the 21-year-old Maximilian Hackländer, the first driver has already been determined. Who shares the cockpit with the former Audi driver is still open.

Karsten Molitor (Team principal): “In the past, we often had to ask ourselves why we don't actually use a 911 in the ADAC GT Masters with our 18-year-old Porsche Background. On the one hand, the model cycles never fit, on the other hand, we have always been very experimental. That was a good thing. After all, we were also able to achieve respect with our exotics, at least last year we were able to set a very strong accent with our BMW M6. With a 3rd place at the Saturdays race and a victory on Sunday, at the 200th ADAC GT Masters race, we delivered perfectly. Nevertheless, we are very happy that it finally worked out with a Porsche, even if it was not quite easy. Since Porsche could no longer supply new vehicles, we managed to secure a vehicle on the secondary market. Now we can't wait for it to finally start. We are pleased about our new addition, Maximilian Hackländer, in which Audi R8 he has already been proved to show several times what potential he has. We hope to announce a teammate soon.”

Porsche Carrera-Cup Germany

This season, the team put together by Iris Dorr and Karsten Molitor will again be represented in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. In addition to Jukka Honkavuori, who was already competing for MRS last season, both in the Porsche MOBIL1 Supercup and in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, the team was able to hire another driver from Kuwait. After experience in the Radical Cup, Ahmad Alshehab will gain his first experience in the probably toughest Porsche brand cup.

Iris Dorr (Team Manager): "The Porsche Carrera Cup Germany is practically the root of our Porsche relationship. In 2003 we made our debut there; in the meantime, many years of Porsche brand cups have come together. We are very happy that our Finn, Jukka Honkavuori, will be there again this year, as his teammates we can announce another exotic. Ahmad Alshehab from Kuwait, who has already completed his first test rides in Oschersleben. We are looking forward to another, interesting and hopefully very successful year."

In Austin Texas, the newly founded MRS offshoot in the USA will go on the points hunt again.
