NLS postpone next round due to the current weather forecasts

The continuation of the brilliant opening race of the Nürburgring Endurance Series two weeks ago has to be postponed: For safety reasons, the VLN has decided to postpone the 46th NIMEX DMV 4h race scheduled for Saturday. Due to the current weather forecasts, a safe execution of the race for all participants cannot be guaranteed. Temperatures around freezing point and expected snowfall on Friday afternoon and evening as well as on Saturday morning and morning are predicted by several meteorological services. An alternative date has already been set: The race of the Renngemeinschaft Düren will be made up on the planned NLS alternative date on 4 + 5 November 2022.

"The safety of our participants and helpers is paramount when conducting the NLS races," says Michael Bork, Sports Director and Race Director of the NLS. "According to several forecasts, snowfall is expected around the Nürburgring on Friday afternoon and evening. Temperatures around freezing and precipitation are forecast for Friday and Saturday. We can expect conditions under which we cannot be responsible for the execution of the race event from the point of view of the race management."

The postponement of the second race is a great disappointment for the fans and everyone involved, after all, more than 140 top-class vehicles – 28 in the SP9 and SP-X classes alone – had named for the race over the distance of four hours in the Green Hell. "We did not make the decision to postpone the event early easy," says Ralph-Gerald Schlüter, Managing Director of VLN Sport GmbH & Co. KG. "However, the imponderables cannot be calculated and it was important to us, especially in this day and age, not to expect the teams to travel unnecessarily. Fortunately, we have agreed a replacement date with the racetrack operator, so that the season is expected to include all eight planned races at the end."

The next race of the Nürburgring Endurance Series will take place on 23 April. The 53rd Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy takes place over the usual distance of four hours.
