Podium finish for Herberth Motorsport at Lausitzring

The first half of the second race of the season was dominated by pole-setter Dries Vanthoor. The Audi Sport driver lost the lead to Porsche driver Sven Müller shortly after the start, but the Belgian was back in the first corner. After that, Vanthoor steadily took the lead. At times he drove more than half a second faster than his pursuers. When he handed the number 32 black Audi to partner Charles Weerts in the middle of the race, his time cushion was just under 14 seconds. Weerts even slightly extended the lead. However, a late safety car phase to recover the Bentley from Constantin Schöll (21 / A) and Jordan Pepper (24 / ZA, both T3-HRT-Motorsport), which was turned over in a collision, pushed the field together again. But despite outside temperatures of more than 30 degrees, Weerts, who is the youngest pilot in the field this year, was under great pressure and remained at the front at the restart. He achieved a lead of almost 3.8 seconds to the finish line and took his first overall victory in his "Super Sports Car League" on his premiere weekend, and also triumphed in the Pirelli Junior classification for young drivers.

The Saturday winners Luca Stolz and Maro Engel had to be content with second place this time, but leave the Lausitz as the first leaders of the season. After a night shift to repair their badly damaged Porsche the day before, Robert Renauer and Sven Müller thanked their team in third place. In another 911 GT3 R, Michael Ammermüller (34 / Rotthalmünster) and Christian Engelhart (33 / Starnberg, both SSR Performance) finished fourth. Behind them, defending champions Patric Niederhauser (28 / CH) and Kelvin van der Linde (24 / ZA, both Rutronik Racing) led an Audi trio as fifth, led by Kim-Luis Schramm (23 / Meuspath) and Christopher Mies (31 / Heiligenhaus, both Montaplast by Land Motorsport) in sixth place and Rolf Ineichen (42 / CH) and Mirko Bortolotti (30 / I, both Team WRT) finished seventh.
