The Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland is ready for the new season
The teams and participants of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland warmed up for the new season with official test drives in Imola, Italy. The calendar again includes eight double races in five countries. Initially, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will compete twice as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC): in Imola in mid-April and in Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium at the beginning of May.
In addition to the venues of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix and the Belgian GP, the one-make cup will stop at two other current Formula 1 circuits. Part of the six DTM appearances are the Circuit Zandvoort on the Dutch North Sea coast and the Red Bull Ring in Austria. An additional highlight is the return to the Norisring: The German Carrera Cup last competed on the spectacular street circuit in Nuremberg in 2019. The Nürburgring, the Sachsenring and the Hockenheimring complete the 2025 programme of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland.
Eight teams – some with two separate teams – have a total of 28 drivers permanently registered in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland. In addition to defending champion Proton Huber Competition, Bonk Motorsport, Team75 Bernhard, ID Racing, Target Competition from Italy and the Dutch team GP Elite will also be back on the grid. The [a-workx] by Porsche Paderborn team has been newly formed. A prominent newcomer is Schumacher CLRT. The French team won the drivers' and teams' championships of the international Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup last season.
The riders represent ten nations, including Brazil, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. The largest contingent is Germany with twelve participants, followed by the Netherlands with seven starters. Among them is Emely de Heus (ID Racing) for the first time in a decade as a female racing driver. The 22-year-old most recently competed in the international racing series F1 Academy. De Heus and four other newcomers can score points in the rookie classification. The Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland also offers extra classifications for teams and the so-called ProAm class, in which veterans with no ambitions for a professional career compete for the title.
Porsche Germany is once again providing targeted support for eight young drivers. In addition to Emely de Heus, this talent pool also includes the Austrian Kiano Blum (ID Racing), Matheus Ferreira from Brazil (Target), the Briton Joseph Warhurst (Team Proton Huber Competition), the Dutchmen Flynt Schuring (Schumacher CLRT), Kas Haverkort (Team GP Elite) and Senna van Soelen as well as Daniel Gregor from Baden-Württemberg (both Team75 Bernhard).
The starting field of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland also includes the two current Porsche Juniors: Frenchman Alessandro Ghiretti (Schumacher CLRT) enters the German one-make cup as the reigning title winner of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and the Porsche Carrera Cup France. Theo Oeverhaus (Bonk Motorsport) was rookie champion in the German Carrera Cup in 2023. In addition, the Osnabrück native finished third overall last season and won the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East.
Two reigning champions of the 2024 season will also compete in the new season. Rookie winner and Talent Pool newcomer Flynt Schuring now has his sights set on a top position in the overall standings. Sören Spreng (GP Elite) from Sauerland wants to defend his ProAm title. Record champion and defending champion Larry ten Voorde is no longer there. The Dutchman is now devoting himself entirely to his own driver academy.
In the new season, the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland will once again hold two races of just over 30 minutes per race weekend.
"Porsche has been holding one-make cups in Germany for 40 years, and the Carrera Cup is already entering its 36th season. Once again, we have opted for the DTM as the main platform, which will be our host on six weekends. In addition, there will be two rounds as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Teams, drivers and fans can therefore look forward to a varied season in which Sixt will once again accompany us as title partner," comments Thorsten Rückert, Project Manager of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland. "I am particularly excited about the performances of the drivers from the talent pool, in which I would like to give a special welcome to Emely de Heus as the only female driver."
