Victory on GT3 return rounds off strong team result
BLACK FALCON delivered a strong team performance at the NLS season opener. The Meuspath-based squad fielded a car in the GT3 SP9 class for the first time since 2021 and immediately won the SP9 Pro/Am classification with the BLACK FALCON Team EAE Porsche 992 GT3 R. In addition, the BMW M4 GT4 Evo of Team BILSTEIN by BLACK FALCON also crossed the finish line as the winner in the "Evo's" first outing on the Nordschleife. In the hotly contested CUP2 class of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring (PETN), 48 LOSCH Motorsport by BLACK FALCON (PRO category) and BLACK FALCON Team Zimmermann (PRO/AM category) each achieved second place with their Porsche 992 GT3 Cup, securing important points at the season opener.
BLACK FALCON Team EAE: First victory in the first race
The season opener could hardly have gone better for BLACK FALCON Team EAE: Daan Arrow, Ben Bünnagel, Gabriele Piana, and Mike Stursberg delivered a flawless performance in their first outing in the Porsche 992 GT3 R (#48). After intensive setup work on Friday, the 911 was at times one of the fastest cars in the field on Saturday. After four hours of racing, the team initially crossed the finish line in second place in the SP9 Pro/Am class, but was declared class winners after the first-placed driver was disqualified – a successful return for BLACK FALCON to GT3 racing.
Team BILSTEIN by BLACK FALCON: Strong performance rewarded with victory
At the season opener, Team BILSTEIN by BLACK FALCON competed for the first time with the Evo version of the BMW M4 GT4 (#150). As in the previous year, Jimmy Broadbent, Steve Brown, Misha Charoudin, and Manuel Metzger competed in the SP8T class. The quartet delivered a perfect race and dominated the class, which boasted an excellent field of eight cars. The final result was a perfect Saturday: pole position, fastest lap, and class victory for Team BILSTEIN by BLACK FALCON.
48 LOSCH Motorsport by BLACK FALCON: Second place after a moment of shock
The PETN CUP2 team champions competed under the Luxembourg flag for the first time at the NLS season opener: 48 LOSCH Motorsport by BLACK FALCON competed in the CUP2-PRO category, just like last year, with a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup (#948). Tobias Müller and Noah Nagelsdiek, who this year are also supported by Carlos Rivas, took turns at the wheel of the LOSCH 911. After a strong first half of the race, the 948 held a very narrow lead after the last regular pit stop. However, an unfortunate collision with another car in the Nordschleife entrance area resulted in a 30-second time penalty for the team. Despite the penalty, the #948 crossed the finish line in second place in the CUP2-PRO class, scoring important points towards the championship.
BLACK FALCON Team Zimmermann: Emotional rollercoaster of both teams' premiere
The first race weekend for BLACK FALCON Team ZIMMERMANN offered plenty of action. The team competed with a Porsche Cayman GT4 RS in the SP7 class and a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup in the CUP2-Pro/Am class of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring.
The race got off to a good start for the Porsche Cayman GT4 RS (#70) driven by David Barst, Axel Sartingen, and Nils Schwenk. After a short stint on rain tires as the track dried out, the team switched to slicks and sent the Cayman back out onto the track. However, during an overtaking maneuver shortly before the next scheduled pit stop, the race ended abruptly. The Cayman touched a wet patch of grass and slid into a tire wall at low speed. In addition to some cosmetic damage, the car's radiator was damaged when it came into contact with the track barrier, forcing the team to retire the car early.
The Porsche 992 GT3 Cup of Alex Hardt, Peter Ludwig, and Maik Rosenberg, with PRO driver Hardt, started on slicks in difficult mixed conditions. Despite a brief scare when the 911 left the track in a particularly wet section of the track and spun off just before the barrier, the car performed strongly throughout the race. In the end, the BLACK FALCON Team ZIMMERMANN Porsche 992 GT3 Cup crossed the finish line in second place in the Pro/Am classification and fifth in the CUP2 class. After a disqualification of the third-placed driver, they moved up to fourth place in the overall standings. With the excellent second place in the Pro/Am classification, the trio scored important points towards the championship.
