Porsche has notched up another podium in the virtual world of motorsport. Round one of the Simracersworld GT Pro & Evo Series took place this week with two entertaining races. Moving into it’s 7th season, the SRW GT Series features a full season of GTE battles with the Porsche 911 RSR, Ford GTE, BMW M8 and Ferrari GTE all fighting for top honours.

Mario Juri, racing for Sim Racing academy, concluded the 90-minute race, crossing the line in seventh place and taking second in the Gold Class. Daniel Handover in the Demon Tweeks Porsche, battled hard to take eighth place, securing seventh in the platinum class.

Maarten Reeuwijk and Jordan McGlone of Team Simpact racing, began the virtual race from thirteenth and twentieth on the grid, in the Porsche 911 RSR. Over the race distance, the experienced Esports drivers kept out of trouble with patience and strategy. Working their way through the train of cars in the first half hour of the race with Reeuwijk making it into eighth place, only to drop out of the top ten after a second round of pit stops.

For the Strasse driver Austin Greatorex, the dream of scoring a top result in the opening round on the tradition fast Florida circuit was shattered early on. Starting from twenty-eighth on the grid, the UK driver was involved in various incidents caused by other drivers in the opening stages of the race and dropped back to last place. The sister car driven by Carl Sharkey, put in a steady performance to come home mid pack for the rookie.

In Thursday night's GT EVO Class, the Porsche 911 RSR claimed its second podium of the week, Billy Fletcher in the Luxsim24 Esport Porsche finished in third place overall, taking first in the Bronze Class. Fletcher who qualified second on the grid, was leading the race for a short while after a fantastic drive in the opening stages, it looked like Fletcher was on track to take the second spot on the podium but with only ten minutes to go spun out, dropping him down to third.

Overall, a strong performance from all of the Porsche drivers, with five teams all finishing within the top ten.
