Porsche clinches Asian Le Mans Series GT title in Abu Dhabi

Porsche customer Pure Rxcing secured the 2023/24 Asian Le Mans Series GT title by taking third place in the fifth and final round of the season at Yas Marina Circuit.

The trio of Klaus Bachler, Joel Sturm and Alex Malykhin bounced back from an incident that ended their race early on Saturday, with the podium finish adding to victories in Sepang and Dubai to complete a superb campaign.

Hong Kong-based racer Antares Au put in another solid showing for Herberth Racing to help the squad take a season-high fifth place in Saturday’s race. Racing with Tim Heinemann and the combination of Laurin Heinrich and Morris Schuring, the #33 crew narrowly missed out on points in the season finale, finishing in 11th.

The Earl Bamber Motorsport #8 Porsche 911 GT3 R secured 13th in the penultimate race of the season, before an incident on Sunday put Setiawan Santoso, Tanart Sathienthirakul and Bastian Buus’ entry out of contention. Meanwhile, the #84 sister car of Team Owner Earl Bamber, Adrian D’Silva and Kerong Li picked up a pair of 17th placed finishes.

Finally, Huber Motorsport made their first appearance of the season in the final weekend, with Jannes Fittje, Dorian Boccolacci and Stanislav Minsky at the wheel of the #18 car, completing both races in 18th.

Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “Huge congratulations to Pure Rxcing! They were fantastic throughout the 2023/24 Asian Le Mans Series and fought back brilliantly from Saturday’s disappointment to claim the title, so our congratulations to the team. Herberth Motorsport took a solid fifth on Saturday as Earl Bamber Motorsport and Huber Motorsport also showed encouraging signs this weekend. It’s great to have five customer entries over the course of the 2023/2024 Asian Le Mans Series and we are already looking forward to being back next season!”
