Porsche Sports Cup returns to Shanghai for Porsche Sportscar Together Day

Following a successful return to the track at the Zhuhai International Circuit in July, Porsche Sports Cup will be hosted at the Shanghai International Circuit this weekend for a joint brand celebration with the Porsche Sportscar Together Day. The third edition of Porsche Sports Cup in China will continue to cater to Asia’s ever-growing motorsport fanbase, serving those with racing ambitions at all skill levels. 18 race cars, representing four of the five Porsche GT models (the Porsche 911 GT3 R, 911 GT3 Cup, GT2 RS Clubsport and 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport), will join 133 Porsche road car owners for the perfect combination of customer and clubsport competition.

As per the Zhuhai event, the Porsche Parade will unite more than 200 local Porsche owners each day in a momentous tour of the circuit and the Introduction to Race Track programme will once again offer customers their first taste of motorsport. The Porsche Drivers Competition Time Trial pits competitors against the clock in their own two-door Porsche sports car, while the Porsche Sprint Challenge will welcome drivers of varying experience levels as well as different generations of Porsche GT race cars.

The Porsche Sprint Challenge will also see Chinese artist Kris Wu make his motorsport debut following months of training with Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport and Porsche 911 GT3 R, having chosen the brand to take his first steps into motorsport with as an avid Porsche owner and fan.

Porsche Sports Cup is a key step in the Porsche Motorsport Pyramid, as it marks a drivers first competition against experienced racers which Kris will be doing in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Fans can follow his journey in a three-part documentary series Kris Wu: Racing Driver, the first episode of which is available to watch now.

The Chinese Grand Prix venue will once again host the Porsche Sportscar Together Day, a celebration of the historic brand which honours its 70-year motorsport history and immerses guests in the extraordinary world of Porsche. Off-track activities include an exhibition of cars, driving simulators and the Porsche Kid’s Driving School for a family-friendly experience, with VIP Hot Laps and Slalom Challenges also available.
